Sailor's wife, Catherine, has been kind enough to post scouting reports from Sailor so that folks will know that is going on:

Scout update June 14 & Lake Nimrod June 15th spring council directions

Hello everyone,
Sailor asked me to post today's scout update:

"Yesterday walked the Cole Creek site with Val and met with resource
folks and Special Agent Robert Baroons out of Atlanta ,Ga. Apparently
Mr. Rey is unable to control his personnel on the LEO side of the
street. Anyway the situation at Cole Creek is there is a closure order
in place there. It has been in place since 1987 as the area is a State
and Federal joint wildlife management area. A list was given of the
rare and endangered flora species, I only remember a few, running
strawberry, vine strawberry, Lady Slipper, Ginseng and Cap something
or other. I have the complete list but not with me right now. What all
this means is that only one side of the creek would be available for
usage, anyone crossing the creek would be cited for entering the
closed area. The set backs required from the creek (100 feet for
camping and three hundred for kitchens leave no level land to use,
think 45 degree camping. The area initially proposed for parking turn
out to be feed lot plantings, which if used would certainly piss off
the local hunting folks. This appears to be a lose/lose situation. The
usfs doesn't want us there and probably half the family, once they
know that we'd be using a site that has been rehabitated for the last
30 years wouldn't be happy about it either. Personally, I think the
biggest issue is the sub surface structure and how slit trenches would
polute the water table. The usfs is also concerned over this issue. So
what you actually have at this site is a good spring and little else.
Today, Val and I checked another site toward the west near Paradise.
It looks OK for a first walkthru.
Val is camping there tonight. Tomorrow after meeting with the forest
service at Lake Nimrod ( on Army Corps. safe space) we'll take
whomever can drive a vehicle and transport as many folks as possible
to Paradise and do more detailed checking on spring flow and how the
potential site could be used.
All for now. To date we don't seem to have a viable site other than
possibly McCellan Lake Creek. We are waiting for word on a fee/work
exchang deal to see if even that is viable. Sorry for the delay, but
if ther4e were more folks willing to scoutperhaps we'd not be in such
a situation. -------- S"

P.S.
Also a reminder that Friday, June 15th is the start of spring council
# 2 at "Carter Cove", Lake Nimrod at the free primitive camping area.
This location is in Central /Western Arkansas on Army Corp of
Engineers land, no permits or fees for camping are required. This is
not the gathering site, but a location for Spring Counsel. See http://www.arkansas.com/lakes-rivers/lake.asp?id=21 (http://www.arkansas.com/lakes-rivers/lake.asp?id=21) for directions to
this location.

Hello everyone
Another Scout update from Sailor:

Still looking for a site, with Val scouting Red Star, and Sailor
scouting Shores Lake. (How I spelled these two sites might be
incorrect)

Tomorrow night Sailor and Val plan to meet and compare notes.
