Not sure what this Group thing is about, but it's a new feature on the Forums. See the Site Announcements. Anybody interested?

It would be nice to have a gallery where Fam could post Gathering pics; not sure how many of the other features would be useful...the Calender of Events maybe. It's the part where Skip mentioned making the groups existing forum into it's 'official' forum that worries me...could the fs use that in court?
HHB- Bro, you worry too much. I think most of the folks who post on HipForums could be grown-up enough to run a full 'cyber-kitchen'...right now we have more of a Bliss pit ;)
What I'd really like to be able to do is to see if we can 'reserve' a HipChat room for a couple of hours once a week for Rainbow Chat....a Virtual Potluck :D

I think you're worrying too much, here. Just 'cause you, or me, or Skip, says HHB is the Official Leader of RFOLL, or the CEO of General Motors, or the King of France, don't make it so. I think something like this has been used in court, in one of the Secret Leader cases. Does the Leader of the UK group get Tony Blair's job? The Leader of the Gay group....Never mind.

Maybe we need to look at it from the perspective of "if somebody's gonna do it anyway, (and she's @bonaroo right now) how would we like to see it done?"
Is the Group Leader thing for life? Aren't MySpace groups that way? Can a leader resign, or be deposed?

I can relate to the 'before someone else does' perspective. The group leader on MySpace cannot resign, they can only shut down a group, like Lunchbox did. Then Pablo opened a new one. I guess one of us should be over on the other thread asking Skip these questions & other questions, maybe we can have several 'leaders'. I'll go see what Skip says.

Hey just got an update from Skip...Yes we can have more than one leader & yes we can vote to have someone removed.
So should we start to discuss the details in the hope that we can get this together by July 1st? It would be nice to be able to post pics from this year's Gathering while it is in progress.
The main reason you even need a leader is because we can't have everyone updating the info on the main page itself, only the leader can do that. We won't give such access to everyone or anyone. They have to have proven themselves on this site, or already be a mod or preferrably a supermod. In other words, someone we trust.
As far as kicking ppl off or deleting their posts, I don't see how that would be any different from now. Our supermods and admins will have access to the groups too and will moderate if necessary just as it's always been. Anyone can report a problem post and our mods will deal with it as usual.
As far as your group leaders being held responsible for anything in the real world, I suggest you choose someone who has no other major rainbow responsibilities so that they aren't a target. Thus if their only responsibility is keeping a webpage updated, I hardly think that would hold up in court as being responsible for the whole group's actions.
You now have a new group page:
http://www.hipforums.com/modules.php?name=Groups&gid=23
There are now links to all the group pages on every forum page in the left column.
Enjoy!

Thank you for all the clarifications Skip. I wouldn't have even thought about the legal aspect accept for the fact that I've been given many new perspectives in that area this year. I don' think anyone on HipForums is on the 'Secret Leaders' list ;)
And a Big Ole Rainbow Hug for setting up a group page. The site announcement for this year will be happening any time now.
Hey Turn-up...Is this close enough to virtual greasepaint? Think we can gets the new folks to check the stick info if we work it onto the group page?
