Anyone read The Monkey Wrench Gang, an everyday tale of eco-sabotage?

I haven't read it myself. Have you? Could you tell us more about it? Is it fiction or non-fiction?

Definitely fiction. It's about a bunch of hippies, misfits and Vietnam vets who go around protecting the wilderness by sabotaging attempts at development - they start by disabling tractors and end up blowing up a dam or something.

That does sound quite interesting. I love espionage type tales and though it's eco-espionage/terrorism it sounds like something I'd enjoy. I can't say I remember seeing the book ever, but I'll have to keep my eyes out when I am book hunting at boot sales or what have you.
I don't know about you, but I have a hard time sometimes finding books that look intriguing. I read plenty, sure; but I get stuck in the loop of reading the same author ... which is good at times, but can also get a bit monotonous if it's all you've got to read. *eyeballs the stack of Clancy books I haven't read yet* :)

Love the Edward Abbey quote: "Society is like a stew. If you don't stir things up every once in a while, a layer of scum floats to the top." I was going to quote it in one of my exams if I'd done a question on scandal and sleaze in the Conservative party after 18 years in power....
