I'm a student doing a literary critizism piece on Dr. Richard P. Fitzgibbon's article regarding GID. I was wondering if you guys would be able to help me out with some additional research for my article by just answering this quick poll regarding your childhood. The aforementionned article is here:
http://www.narth.com/docs/fitz.html
Just check off any of the childhood traits you experienced.
EDIT BY MODERATOR: this article appears to be treating homosexuality as an illness needing to be cured, so I would imagine that this thread is a tool to get people to click on the article and rethink their sexuality, just to warn you

if this is for reasearch then its a bit flawed, not everyone who votes in these polls are gay, so it would be impossible to make any links, also isn't it more important to find out who didn't have support?
I.E poll option 'I'm gay and didn't have support from my mother'
and option 'i'm gay and I did'
because how are you going to know how many people didn't have support as opposed to how many people just didn't bother to answer?

thanks for bringing my atention to the article I think its a tool to get gay people to think of their sexuality as an illness, looking at the way the poll is worded I would imagine any research is very biased, I have put a warning at the beginning of the thread

Virtually all of my childhood friends were male. Playing with girls wasn't really part of the culture in which I grew up.

What a gathering of rotten tripe that article was! There's 5 minutes of my life lost that I could have spent doing something productive. Bloody homophobic dreck!

Gawd that was genuinely published in something?
That bit about gay adolescents being more likely to do drugs...if it was true, do they think being homophobic nutters and saying theyre ill is going to help that situation? It sounds like something from a century ago, anyway

these people are very clever, some hard core christian sites, will post a 'gay support group site' and beyond the front page it will be all about the usual.
the nastiest one I saw was why people should leave gay people alone and the indepth answer was 'so they can fuck each other and not polute the normal population'
these sites will send out one message to get people to read the stuff in the first place, nasty

but wouldn't it be FUN to see me turn on my obnoxious mouth then turn off my own hearing aids? people would have fits.

If it was just that, I would imagine that people wouldn't get addicted, if it was just curiousity and boredom wouldn't people just try it once or twice then go onto something else, there has to be some other element?

i cannot believe these outdated and hateful criteria are used to determine sexuality. it was a prejudical and hateful article.
i was effeminate and did not meet the guidelines that a young male in western society but, who gives a shit. there is no right or wrong regarding sexuality, lets teach our children to accept themselves and embrace diversity.

well, i have a hard time calling what i did addiction, since i was apparently obscenely easy for me to quit once i lost interest. my ex was hard core addicted, which is sad. i just walked away, all things considered.
