It's Been Getting Me to Sleep
A dream so big
Almost impossible
But lately it's been getting me to sleep
And thats all that counts
“Practice makes perfect”
So I'm gonna try
It's the only thing I don't get bored with
It's freedom, like my mind
Expressing feelings and opinions
With one quick thought
I like to think I'll be the next Bukowski
Sitting on stage drinking whiskey
Doing what he loves
They always tell me find what you're good at
And stick with it
I found it... I hope..
But the sticking part is not so easy
My interests are never constant
But they are always as obsessive as the last
Hopefully this isn't another pipe dream
Hopefully this one's life
Like a ripened orange
I peel my depressed, boring, and witty skin
To find passion and creativity
Below the obsession of drugs and anxiety
Lies humor and personality
Lies poetry and religion
Lies faith and trust
But this purity is scarred
Scarred by negativity
Scarred by God's left hand
And it brings me grief
And sorrow
But the negatives of reality are inescapable
So I try to take the best and leave the rest
Because life is too short to deal with this shit.
