Ok, Comics might not be classed as great works of literature by some, but I think there are some really good stories out there that come in comic book form. It's been a few years since I actually went out and bought a comic, but was wondering if anyone casually reads comics or has some that they just love and couldn't live without.

For me, my all-time favourite series has to be "Transmetropolitian". I love the political story-line and the main character Spider Jerusalem is just fantastic. I have to admit though, I've unfortunately yet to read the first 24 issues of it, as I only got into it in the last few years.

Dr Strange was always my role model. Who wouldn't want to be a Master of the Mystic Arts, living in a Charles Addams mansion in Greenwich Village, with a faithful manservant and a girlfriend from another dimension?

Can't remember now...

You can get the first issue for free from somewhere, and one of the Lust For Life stories for free somewhere else. Just Google "Another Cold Morning", it should be on the first page.

Never really read any comic books, though I've always enjoyed the Spiderman and X-Men cartoons, and later the films....

They should work the original Spiderman comic/cartoon strip about Spiderman visitng the young lad in that hospital into one of the films. That fucking destroys me every time I read it :(

There was also this really artistic comic book I found one time called Kabuki. I tried to get as many copies of the later ones as possible, and some of the more recent spinoff series. It was about these Japanese spy girls that all wore Kabuki masks. It was really poetic and had lots of high-colour artistic Japenese-styled pictures. I just loved it, even though I only had bits of the storyline.
