I like to play Lord of the Rings risk. not so much a fan of the regular risk, though.

Risk is indeed way up there on my all-time favorite board games.

When I was in Indonesia about half a year ago I stumbled upon a German version of Risk (Risiko) in one of the backpackers guesthouses. Gladly I also found some people to join me for a few games. The story of Risk will continue to expand into legendaricy.

I really enjoy Risk :D It's possibly one of the most fun board games out there. Also fun because you can play it all day, outside in a tent. So much fun! :) Very social too.

No one in my family is ever interested so I rarely get to play. When I'm playing with my friends I prefer the Lord of the Rings version, just because I think it takes away some of the advantage they have in knowing the ins-and-outs of the regular map, and some of the extra rules are cool (fortress areas that add to defense rolls and leaders that add to attack rolls).

There are a lot of rules that aren't always much fun (like you get a copy of the ring that moves from the Shire to Mordor, if it gets there the good player wins, and if it gets captured by the evil player they win. There are also a few decks of cards that add a layer of card game strategy, but it doesn't seem too fun) but it's easy to pick and choose which special rules to play with.
