I Am Being Published!

Well, I entered a poem called, Folded, into the Canadian Poetry Institutes National poetry contest. It's an all ages thing, and, they first choose the top 50 winners and put them into thier poetry anthology which has the greatest poetry today. And, my poem has won to be in that! I'm so happy, and it's so nice to know Ihave some talent, and that people can now read my poems. Anyway, in the fall, there is another finalist contest and teh grande prize is $500...so, I'm praying I get that.

Yay! I would reccomend these contests to a lot of other aspiring young poets because it is a really good way to start and see the publication process, and it also encourages you to write more.

What kind of contest is this? I've seen tons of poem "contests" where you submit a poem on the internet, and they send you a letter congratulating you on winning. Then they offer to sell you a compilation book with your poem and a bunch of others in it, and they give you a comemorative metal plate with your poem on it, but you have to pay for it. It's all a big scam. I don't mean to be a downer or anything, but you should just watch out. So are you going to post the poem?
