Haha, excellent question really. We could never cut the pop genre down to leave the one most medeocre band ever. The whole pop genre is pretty mediocre nowadays. I mean, The Cheeky Girls, what the fuck?

I've had New Kids On The Block and Vanilla Ice spring to mind so far, but they easily fall in with this crowd anyway.

So trying to think outside of pop, I'm getting the likes of Lost Prophets and Rasmus.

Yeah, the way understand the question is that it is bands that it is impossible either to hate or to love. Bands which arouse no feelings whatsoever ... pure mediocrity, which is even worse than being unbearably shit because at least that arouses some passion!

Urgh...Status Quo...what an apt name! I can't believe that such a lame band have earnt millions and enjoyed a lavish lifestyle thanks to one riff repeated throughout their back catalogue! The sad thing is they probably still get fan's throwing their undergarments on stage...even if they are starting to knock on a bit...infact i bet most are incontinent so they are probably getting their just deserts! :)

And Ocean colour scene are trump but at least they mastered at least 3 chords..I think they have to be better than america's premier gravel voiced, thinning haired king of the slushy ballad, Michael Boulton!!! :)

I'm not sure a band has to be a commercial failure to be mediocre. Mediocrity might actually just mean that they are so inoffensive that nobody can take exception to them and so the CDs just get bought and bought, sheeplike. From supermarkets and petrol stations. By people with german shepherd dogs called Prince. OK, I'm turning into Half Man Half Biscuit now!
