Dan Dennet

I saw Dan Dennet give a lecture tonight on how the brain could be the seat of consciousness. It seemed like he kind of kept it pretty simple but that maybe because I am taking two philosophy of the mind classes right now. Tomorrow I am going to go see him give a lecture on the evolution of religion. That should be a good one.

Yeah so I saw the lecture he gave today about his new book breaking the spell. His whole idea is the religion evolves much like evolution. It didn't seem like he was necessarily saying the evolution somehow adds to darwinian fitness, but rather that the same forces that are acting on nature are also acting on religion. It was a pretty good talk. I need to read the book though.
