From Wikipedia
Oz is the nickname for the Oswald State Correctional Facility, a maximum-security prison of undisclosed location. Many of the plot arcs are set in Emerald City ("Em City"), an experimental unit of the prison, where the unit manager tries to emphasize rehabilitation and learning responsibility during incarceration. Emerald City is a controlled environment. There are a limited number of members of each racial and social group. The microcosm of Emerald City mirrors the racial and economic tensions in the present-day United States.

HUGE fan of this show, Samhain. The ending of it is brilliant btw. I've seen all the episodes (i think). Unfortunately only own seasons 1 and 3 though. I wanted to get my husband into it. :)

I've only seen the first season, do you remember that scene when it went from them putting a prisoner to death, to a warden and socail worker having sex and back again, so powerful

for as long as I've remembered I have adored anything to do with prisons, when I went to San fran the guy at the boarding house told me not too bother with Alcatraz, and I was like I'm not coming out here and not doing that!
I did the ultimate tour, where you have headphones and relatives of the prisoners and past prisoners say things like, 'you are now standing on the spot I stabbed someone to death'
you can hear the doors being banged closed, I did ask if they locked any tourists up and they used too, but one day the lock broke and the people inside had to wait hours while someone went to main land and got a locksmith :$
Hey Tara! is there any prison tours in seattle that you know of?

Not that I know of, but I agree about how cool that Alcatraz tour was. Why in the heck would anyone try to steer you away from seeing it?!?

locals always think their obscure hangouts are the true treat of going to a place. me? i prefer the cheesy attractions. it's not like i live there and am looking for a place to chill out.
