Anybody?
There's not a great deal to be said about this game, either you're in the know or you're not. If you're not, it's very simple.
It's an entirely online team-based first-person shooter in which one team takes the roll as Terrorists and the other Counter Terrorists (known to fans as 'T's' and 'CT's'). T's can win a mission by either planting a bomb and having it explode, or neutralising all CT's whereas CT's can win by either detonating a bomb or neutralising all T's. It's simplistic, handles well and is played almost ritually by a growing number of people.
The game is an upgrade from the original 'Counter Strike' mod for Half Life, using the Source engine that was in Half Life 2. Hence, better graphics, faster gameplay, smooth running!

a couple of buddies i know play that game, but why would a counterterrorist need to detonate a bomb? i mean, if the terrorists are trying to plant a bomb, and the counterterroists are too, is it like a race or sumn?

Hm. I used to play regular CS. My old clan (from 2 years ago) wants to get back together and start playing on CSS. Supposedly the last update has actually made it pretty good now? I haven't had a chance to get the game yet. :(

Mate, pretty good is a huge understatement. It's a whole new fuckin experience, moving a LOT better, maps with real good graphics and an element of beauty to each *visually stunning, to be fair - providing you've got the power in your grpahics card to back it*. I hate clans though, pointless. 'Oh, do this, and this' - no! Just play, it's a game to be played for enjoyment and clans add the serious element to it. That spoils it IMO. Also you can be having a really good game and then a clan will enter the server and piss all over everything.

And Trippin' Billies - The T's have to plant the bomb and the CT's have to defuse it before the time limit runs out and the fucker explodes, killing everyone in a certain range of the blast. However, each team can also win by eliminating the opposite force; so there's a couple of ways to win the game which can add a strategic element to the blasting.

Yeah I guess. I don't really like clans all that much either. But I've known everyone in the clan..for..well 2 years now. And two of them live in Las Vegas as well (where I moved to recently, we haven't had time to meet up yet though).

i have it been playin CSS for about 2 years now haven't been playing a lot lately welp haven't been gamin at all lately but it is a great game...extremely realalistic

Hmm...well I just got it for $20 through PayPal.. Except it's been stuck at downloading: 37% for four hours now. Sucks. :( I've tried restarting steam and windows multiple times now.

Yeah that game iam addicted to, i play so many games on steam its not funny. CSS is one of the best games ive play on this but Day of Defeat Source is just as good.

That's gutting..
I've found that people that declare themselves as Kick ASS (or indeed think of themselves as good players) on CSS have an extreme overuse for the word 'Noob'; throwing it around at other players with a lower score, or players that simply fuck up randomly.

xD Yeah. I'm surprised that I actually find it better than 1.6 now. I tried it in at a LAN before and I didn't really like it. Now when I have time to play games, it's CSS. :D

great game, i've been playing for years man.
i went on a trip to greece and there was a lan cafe that had CS retail installed, back in like 2000-2001.. fuck i've been playing for a while, i was almost addicted to the game at one point..

still playin source from time to time though.. my steam friends name is .hellixxx, maybe we can get a game going some time with some forum members..

by the way, if you wanna try out a new mod man, check this out.. http://www.insmod.net/ it's sorta similar to CS, but more realistic, pretty crazy game

I can safely say I was one of the first 50 ppl IN THE WORLD to ever play CS

the guy who created it went to Simon Fraser University, a school about 20 minutes from my house, and a friend of mine knew him, as he gave us the Mod which he had created for a school project

i've played it all the way up to source but stopped recently as i've grown tired of it and moved onto other games

with that said, i cant wait for this mod to come out for it:

but yea, left 4 dead looks pretty fucked up.. personally i'm looking forward to TF2 man, that should be fun, i always liked team fortress

back when the colt had a scope..

and smoke grenade parties in Dust meant if u didnt have a cable connection, you'd be shotgun food

sounds like fun times.. the game as a whole is a lot less fun now, too many crybaby/power-tripped admins and shit, and yea people just overplay all the same maps.

they redid militia now and totally killed the simplicity of it. the old one was amazing, still could have been improved, but the source one now is just a big mess..
backalley was always a fav map of mine, but yea that was dead by the time the game was retail.. same with siege

you ever play any of the crazy NIPPER maps with the cars and shit? i used to be hooked to all those

No way because 1.6 had the shield which meant a pussy would stand in a corner and try to hide. Source is great. Besides graphics, surfing is one of my favorite things to do because no one knows everything there can be about surfing. It would be impossible because new maps come out just about daily and you really have to know the map. Surfing is pretty addictibe though.

the scout is such a good gun because you can run really fast with it

Team Fortress 2 is amazing, so fun, if you're into that of course :)

I love CS:S, I used to play 1.6 and although it is classic no doubt, Source blows it away in the graphics aspect, and if you have a supporting computer, it's a blast.

Lately I've been playing gun games, and it's such good practice, my headshot skill is disgusting now :cool:

I played CS:S a little while ago and now i play it all the time.
My computer broke and my friend gave me an old one with a pentium 4 and a 64mb graphics card and it still runs fine.
Its so fun to play but i get kicked all the time because i have really high ping because ive got dial up.
