you ground up shamrocks
sprinkling eulogies
goodbye to let go

and no one was watching
but lightning bugs massing
were flashing so flagrantly
little and yellow

like diamonds dancing around enchanting
under the evergreens on fluttering faery wings

there was a funeral drum
made from silver aluminum
that beat dead parts of your heart

till fingers wet from wiping salt watery eyes
lit your candles and closed up the curtains

later you let trailer trash
leave black bruises sobering fat
and two whole weeks under wraps
were warded with questions
nobody asks

till blood was boiling
in globes of crystal clouds
under feathered comforters
where your dead brown
eyes drowned

Holy smokes.
That was intense. And I'm listening to Modest Mouse and this just goes along ever so perfectly. Subtle hints of something tragic, bittersweet and warm. Lovely.
