so both of the moderators of this forum are people that in some way 'are attacted to the same sex'
I was wondering how important do you think that is, do you think in a gay forum the moderators should be gay or bi, would you feel uncomfortable with a gay friendly straight modertor?

neither of us are thinking of leaving BTW, i'm just curious!

I would be fine with anyone as long as the person was gay friendly :)

Doesn't matter. Just as long as they're good moderators (which you guys are. :) )

All moderators deserve a sign of appreciation on this forum..:)
it's not easy sometimes to be a mod..I'm one myself..
on our bikeforum issues come up as well..mostly political..
or racist even..our webmaster did never ban anyone..
I agree that Erzebet and Samhain are good moderators on gay
so they will do their best to run it..and they DO...
whether they are gay or bi..does not matter at all..
this is a forum of 58535 members..so..sometimes..not easy..

would one have to be a junkie to moderate the opiates forums ? i dont know .....being able to read n write i think helps ......if one was murdered by someone of the same gender , race or afinity .....or someone polarly oposite .....would they be more or less dead ?

I'm an off and on junkie, but still nobody has been picked up for that job.

I think that with any job, big or small, sexuality should never be an issue. Same goes with Mods. I think that having a mod who has first hand experience with the subject of the forum would be beneficial, but not necessary.

yea, it helps that the mods are gay, but not necessary. I like it this way, though. I have a harder time talking to str8 ppl just because its hard for them to put themselves in my shoes, but other gays can relate to me on a much different level.

I think that it is very important to have people who are gay to be running the forum. I just think that's the way it should be.

I think the mods should be gay, or no mods at all.

from what I heard there was a lot more homophobia on here when it was modless, so surley having a moderator of any sexual orientation is better than no mods?

i don't think they have to be out and out gay but i think for them to be honest, if they are a man, they should suck the occasional penis and likewise if they are a woman

I like to think that I can have a clearer understanding of the emotional issues that gays have because I too am gay , so , it helps , in my eyes , to have a gay , or at least , Bi mod , on the Gay forums

A straight guy isn't going to fully understand me when I'm talking about loving another guy, but another gay, or bi mod would at least have some experience, or otherwise good insight on my situation. The mods already rock! :rainbow:

I complete agree with others, it helps having gay/bi mods because even a gay friendly mod would not have that common frame of reference of "how" it feels to be gay in a non-gay friendly world or understand how it feels to be shunned by family, friends and society.

peace out,

First off, let me say that I HATE forum polls. It's like that.

1) Polls, regardless of their pertinence, will be pulled to the top of the forum by someone who is so lazy to only check a box without leaving a comment.

2) The polls do not have a limitation of date. I could bury this forum in polls every day if I created a new user account and went back and ticked every one of the polls buried in the past.

3) The people who design the polls can skew the questions to "formulate" a result, thus, substantiating their opinion in a very small sample. Goebbels perfected this technique in the 1930s. So that the respondents themselves were led to believe their replies when their original opinions were discounted by the survey.

If you want consensus and commentary about a particular subject, ask for commentary, don't create a skewed fricken poll. And don't use that poll as a basis to prove your own belief on the subject, please.

Okay, people like polls. I can live with that. And people like to talk on their cell phone in a restaurant. I can live with that, too. I'm just asking, can you please keep your voice down?

My critique of the above poll:

Answer 3 begs for consolation, a basic human desire. We like to believe we are accommodating. "People are people, providing they are not homophobic", I believe that is a triger, and therefore forms a shaded opinion. This type of shaded answer skews a poll. The other two questions properly do not offer "why" explanations for the opinion.

Dropping the editorial comment we have a response "It doesn't matter what sexuality they are," which parallels answers 1 & 2. Answers 1 & 2 are direct.

There is no option in this poll for "none of the above." People who disagree with the available options are discounted.

My answer to the poll:

A moderator of a GLBT forum should be GLB or T.

I do enjoy the opportunity to enlighten curious straight folks about what it is like to be gay. But I dread the idea that I have to educate a moderator, no matter how cool she is.

Thank you for the opportunity to express my opinion
