What's the difference between coke and crack

Crack is the smokable form of cocaine which is cooked - often with baking soda or ammonia - and made into a rock.

Cocaine is the powder which is snorted up the nose.

Crack produces a more intense but shorter lasting high, and is much more addictive than regular cocaine. It's also cheaper than regular cocaine, which is part of the reason the crack epidemic is so bad in impoverished urban areas.

Crack is poor man's cocaine, essentially.
