For years I've been trying to become a published freelance writer and TODAY my first columns appears on a local news site here in South Africa called News24.com!!

I know its fairly small potatoes on the larger scale of things but I am totally thrilled!

Look on the right of this page, under Columnists, if you want to have a read. I am Colleen Figg.

Just curious - what is the jingle you are referring to? I don't think I know it (not that I watch TV, plus I am American and not South African)

In any case, you have to admit it's somewhat funny to see the juxtaposition of your rant and all the little ads along the side (and bottom) of the page. ;)

Hi Colleen! I don't know if we really need more "heroes" esp after the start of the New Millennium, but I read your article and found it well written and interesting all the same.
