THE VILLAGE


i fought my way through the village
into the country and the stormy skies
coming to you and my pot of brew
escaping from life's lies

falling down by the fireplace
i slowly close my eyes
i've found a place where i can be free
away from society's ties

as the sun rises over the hill
i know that i must go
spent the day working for little pay
till i can sleep with you
by that fire
for so long
