Ironically, I found my journal last night from when I went to the W. Virginia gathering. I wrote this poem when I was there and I don't even remember writing it...I thought it was pretty good now that I read it LOL...

She's a dreamer that no one quite understands
People pass her by with nothing but a second glance.
She leans her flower-haloed head upon her pack
And waits for the world to fade to black.
She shuts her wild eyes under the neon lights,
Her thoughts sink into her past and present lives.
The road whispers her name into her ear
Yet her home seems to be pulling her near.
An untamed heart won't last long,
In Babylon.

The little ones are pulling at her skirt there
As she hands out candy and still they stare.
"Come Home" they chant at her in saturated rhythm
A mantra just for her but she still can't thank them.
Where is home anymore? Her mind wanders to the thought.
Seems she can't fathom what is real and what is not.
The road makes you weary, weak, thoughtless,
But feeds the craving for those adventurous.
You always know what's coming along
In Babylon.

She waits all night for the five o'clock train
But it's seven now and she has no one to blame.
What is time, but a sunset away?
If the sun was up she'd know, but it's gray.
There's a man with a watch on in the next seat,
But he's just another face, one that doesn't speak.
Time doesn't govern her like it does him
The train only runs when she finds it again.
Five o'clock can never be redone
In Babylon.

Heck, I'm not even sure if that was supposed to be the ending, but I liked it...and I wont' change it...I wrote it there at the gathering for a reason, so it's not going to change.

my favorite memory of a gathering is at the national gathering in colorado this year... all the little kids running around with there faces all covered ind dirt, and there mouths full of it...it looks like one of those late night tv commercials for children in impoverished nations...but i know its just cus they r doing the thing kids love to do more than anything, play in the dirt, living ths childhood i wish i had, freee from tv and all that junk....

rainbow transportation never ceases to amaze me
http://welcomehome.org/rainbow/sites/az98/photos/az98-22.jpg

i always wonder how vehicles like this can travel so far without hassles
or like 1 i saw in new mexico i think it was...covered in potleaves and in huge letters on the back it said 'dont ya dare even think about searching this vehicle'
rumor was that that vehicle brought 5 pounds of weed too..lol
ya gotta admit rainbows got the balls to stand up and fight for outr rights

My favorite gathering was VeraCruz 2004. It was really small and intimate. I came into myself alot at that gathering and learned alot and met people that are still imoprtant people in my life today. Theres a bunch of pics from that gathering at www.hazui.cjb.net if anyone is interested in seeing them click on photos and scroll down to rainbow veracruz. I'm in the ones with the name Crystal in the headings, except for Crystal fire that one is mislabled. :) I am in some of the fire shots though.
The sunbow in those pics appeared full moon day as we were breaking the silence with an ohm. It was magical, beautiful and everything a gathering should be, despite the tics.
ps if neone knows how to post some of those pics in this thread, feel free. I'm kinda technologically inept

Yeah right clicking didn't work so good. So ah yeah click on the red photos heading, scroll down a bit till you hit rainbow veracruz. Check out Yo y Crystal, both of the yellow headings(they are main circle and sunbow), and fire3. Some of my personal faves. :)

Soaringeagle, your gathering photo is amazingly inspiring . It was also so good to hear from you brother. *big hUg*

this is one of my most memorable National 04 experiences...

On the Shoshone tribe land Cali 04. a native girl came up to me in the moonlight around drum circle, the fires blazing and the moon rising over the meadow...and stared deeply into my eyes for like an hour without speaking. Another brother and i were mezmerized, could not look away from her eyes and her profound muteness. just deeply moved by her spirit. We honestly felt she was a messenger, for the land, the people, her intensity was palpable love/concern energy. then she dissapeard into the dark.... a shapeshifter sister forever. I knew i walked on sacred ground with her there with all my family of living light..
*things* like that happen at gatherings. they are the most enchanted times.

keanua!! hey missed ya too
thats a beautiful story

ok, heres a momment from colorado that was touching
1st off someone from the forums i became good freinds with offered to drive from tulsa ok to philly..to the gatherin..to philly..to tulsa..just to get me..more then goin clear cross the country outta her way
so as a thank u i got her and her daughters drums
well thst got screwed up and i ended up meetin her there instead..soon as i got there 1 of her drums vannished for 3 days and she was all upset but found it later at a kitchen
well few days later at a drum circle this sweet young sister came runnin over and gave me such an intence hug we both had tears in our eyes afterwards
well she asked to use 1 of the drums and i let her, forgetting to mention it wasnt really mine anymore..i left lil later thinkin chevy would grab her drum, but the sis that had it saw me leave & thought i forgot it so took it with her
chevy was at her 1st gatherin and was all upset thinkin this girl stole it
all night i kept tellin her i KNEW she couldnt have & reassuring her shed find it in the morn
1st thing next morn, chevy comes to my tent and wakes me up overcome with joy cause her drum found her yet again

but the real touching momment was that hug.. wish i knew who she was..lol
funny how touched u can be by someones spirit and never even get theyre name

krystaleyes, that pic of yours is amazing too. it looks so peaceful there, like everyone was just floating...the jungle *feels* so gentle yet powerful there, like alot of otherworldly communication would be acessible there! oooh! thank you for sharing that awesome image of humans that love the planet and each other!!! so awesome you are still close with them. this rainbow family is the family of the planet.

Wow I just used my scanner for the first time :) Anyways here my fav from the 2000 gathering in Montana. I climbed up the hill and snapped this shot of the sunset using my friends wacky rainbow glasses as a filter over the camera lens. I had no clue the treasure that was waiting for me when I got them developed. Hope you like it. :)

Rocker T played a show at camp Clandestino on the night of July 2nd. He is backed up on niabingi drums by various players, upright bass by Andias, and lead guitar by Jay. This song has a great chorus and it is such a joy to sing along with. Just to be...

OK, there was this pic from the '92 Colorado Annual of the Tipi Meadow that was published in High Times. It was taken from the shitter on the ridge up by the Ovens. I know this, because I recognized the view....That pic got quite a bit of circulation at the time...anybody know what I'm talking about? Got a collection of back issues of High Times, and a scanner?
