This is a copy of a post by Hawker on AGR (course it does have our phone # for contact info)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Perhaps I didn't see it wading though all the BS but the site has been
announced.
Rob has a posting at http://www.welcomehome.org/rainbow/sites/annual-site.html (http://www.welcomehome.org/rainbow/sites/annual-site.html)
Which says.
Thanksgiving Council Directions
Council Site corner of S. Lamar and Oltorf in Austin @ The Enchanted
Forest. Entrance to the property is directly across from the bus stop
and stretches for the whole block behind the house. You won't see much
until you enter, as it is 15 acres covered in trees. Lots of on property
parking and live-in vehicle areas.
Bus Route is south Lamar #338 and #3 Buses run there - #3 is best and
runs most often.
If lost in Austin go to or call the Ruta Maya Café on South Congress and
Alpine, which is one block North of Benwhite. The Café is located under
the water tower that can be seen from all over town. Written on it in
large letters is "Clear Channel".
Contact Numbers are:
Pixie 512-803-7514
Cinnamon 979-366-2390
No Collect Calls Please
There will be kitchen gear available, but helping hands are needed.
An E-mail I got, with minor editing to remove names out says.
I visited the Enchanted Forest again yesterday with brother {another
brother}. We'll be setting up the kitchen there on Monday, Nov. 20.
I've been there a couple of times, as have quite a few folks, from whom
we've heard not a single objection, although there are a few concerns.
I just checked welcomehome.org, and see the site has already been
announced. The location is correct, and the address is 1412 W. Oltorf.
Although there is plenty of tent camping, there is limited parking onsite.
There is room for several live-in vehicles. There is plenty of parking
nearby, but not onsite, as it could easily become a clusterfolk. The
only unpleasant thing about the site is the train, which runs next to
the property several times a day. It's pretty loud, but only for short
durations.
Albert (custodian of the property) and his crew have cultivated an
amazing art-space there, right in the city, with a large portion left
undeveloped.
I expect to be there working thru the week, with the exception of
Wednesday, when I work all day at something like a real job in Austin.
We would love to see you there! Thanks for posting the info.
bullshit... cough cough cough!
Lots of shit happening in Texas this month.... but mostly assaults, thievery, lies and manipulation.
WOW!
I stayed away from agro for a week or two and never knew what was going on out there.
My, oh my, what a mess.
I guess the tide turned quite a bit in Austin.
I guess you were right about the TGC not being at woody's.... he was too busy get ripped off by a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Just because a few people, who want to dictate where the TGC will be, post their information all over the internet... does not mean it is correct.
That announcement seems to be under quite the scrutiny.
Pretty bogus if you ask me.
Just my opinion.... but if it is held where that notice suggests..... it would be the most bullshit councils ever.
So what is up with OK/ARK?
Thanksgiving Council, in the Ouachita (wash-itaw) National Forest in
Oklahoma
From I-40 in western Arkansas, near Van Buren, take I-540 SOUTH across
the Arkansas River.
Go through Fort Smith, Arkansas, staying on I-540 all the way into Oklahoma.
I-540 will end at a stop light in Pocola, Oklahoma. (Puh-cola)
At the light in Pocola, go LEFT on Hwy.112 (also marked as Hwy.271/59
SOUTH) through Pocola towards Poteau. (Poe-toe)
When you come to Poteau continue to follow Hwy.271/59 SOUTH. You will go
through town in Poteau.
You will go 46.5 miles from the light in Pocola, through Poteau, and
through Heavener until you reach the Jct. of Hwy.59/259 south.
Hwy. 59/259 Jct. is 15 miles past Heavener; here you turn RIGHT on Hwy.
59/259 south.
Go 7.5 miles to Hwy.63 at Big Cedar. Turn RIGHT on Hwy.63 WEST and go
5.8 miles to the 2nd Muse Rd. and turn RIGHT.
BE SURE TO TAKE THE SECOND MUSE ROAD.
There is a sign on the road that says BILLY CREEK RECREATION AREA on a
paved Forest Service Road, FSR 6022 .
Go a 1/4 of a mile on FSR 6022 and then turn LEFT at the white house, be
sure to stay on the paved road.
Go 9/10's of a mile and then take the RIGHT FORK. Do NOT take Lennox Rd.
Go 6/10's of a mile to FSR 6020-B and turn RIGHT on East Billy Creek Rd.
Go 3/10's of a mile to the Billy Creek Trailhead at FSR 6020-A and turn
RIGHT.
Go 3 miles to FSR K-29 and turn RIGHT.looks like we got 2 TGC directions in two states.
And it looks like the texas folks were not able to hijack a council in spite of thier desperate efforts.
Seeing how Texas acts when it comes to hosting rainbow... I would not be surprised to see the kind folks at the Ark/Ok TGC.... decide to go against having the gathering in Texas....
Two of the three states decide to say fuck the third state and get on with the movie.... pretty interesting.
Texas seems to have lost its bark and is all whimpers!
We shall see ;)
Everyone and their secret agendas..... kind of like a child running for class president in kindergarten:)
whats even more amazing is that the texas site is smaller than two acres, not 15 like it says on welcomehome, and off site parking is pretty far away too, more than five blocks. also people should realize that it is a ticket to sleep in your vehicle in austin. and there sure isn't much room to put a tent up on the site either.
the family having tgc at the billy creek site are a conglomeration of texas, okalhoma, and arkansas rainbows, they worked together to get it done, while the texas site is the wish of one person principle who wants to go to court with the backing of the family sitting next to him during the procedings. also the forest service will be at the texas site to work on the permit, yep thats right permit! now who in the hades wants a permit? well let principle go work with the forest service, while the real rainbow family has a council in oklahoma! forest service be danged. mike
Troubled times for the family, troubled times. So much disharmony and I don't see it getting better until it's taken back from the alcoholics. It's going to spiral down and burn...
but the Phoenix rises from the ashes.
well there are several folks showing up in Austin, Kiddie Village kitchen...lots of other folks
It's been our understanding that the Ark TGC is a scouting TGC, which is totally cool by us; it's not like we don't know the folks focalizing in Ark, cuz we do. TGC in TX does not mean that the Gathering will be in TX...that point has been gone over time & time again. Austin was asked to host because it is a fair distance from any of the National Forests, which hopefully means that folks will not be running off to look at proposed sites & can focus on the recent fs proposal & all thoughts pertaining to it
By the way, do we have to bring people's personal movies over to HipForums too? None of that stuff belongs here as neither party is part of HipForums...but hey that's just our opinion...............
Truly sorry.... did not realize you guys were personally involved with all that drama.... http://www.hipforums.com/forums/images/newsmilies/puke.gif
just read about them today.
Can see why you would want them to remain elsewhere.
I was speaking my mind and knew nothing about your involvement... nor did I mention names.
just pointing out the BS that is going on in Austin.... where the said supposed TGC is being held.
Don't you have a Texas rainbow group to be dictating and censoring?
Could you have ulterior motives for working against lots of other folks?
Just curious?
I guess I will have to wait and see where the true TGC council was held and what was said... AFTER WORDS!
i see no probs here if 1 is a council for workin out what to do with the fs proposal & 1 for scoutting..in fact it kinda makes sence to keep the 2 seperate this year since the proposal might be a big deal, and we may not want them too aware of where the scouts have been looking
its all alittle confusing though, getting info 2nd hand and incomplete
i'd like to think theres good reasoning behind doing things this way, and think that all decisions are being made withthe best interest of family at heart
with the way things are going, i can kinda see the logic that may have lead to this
its so easy to bith and complsain and question the decisions when your not there helping make the decisions
ofcourse we all cant be there all the time
The Texas group is moderated and no things aren't going to get posted if it's stuff intended to flame, or to try to start problems. Folks in AR and OK were encouraged to participate in all the discussions...plus those folks had my phone number. Still. I think if the communication lines are open, all will work out as it should. Can't speak for others but since Austin is a part of Texas, shouldn't Austin folks be asked to partipate in the process too? The only 'agenda' I know of for Austin TGC is that it is a long ways from any National Forest. Some big matters need to be discussed and if folks are running off to check sites, it's hard to discuss anything.
I'm not trying to work against any other folks...someone else seems to have that job.
One way or another, things will come together & I have faith in that.
