I guess I could have just ressurected Flyology, but that requires the man himself to run it. Would always be happy to see him back. Saw him at Beautiful Days this year, a great character.
Anyway, welcome to the Karma Kafe! What are your plans for after school?

Stevenson college for a year, doing an HNC in social sciences, then hopefully to Uni. Im undecided between threee courses though: Politics Philosophy and Economics, Politics and Economics or Politics and Sociology... For PPE, Manchester would be the only place I'd apply, and i dunno about the others.

When and why did you decide to be a communist ... and how has this decision affected your life?

What attracts you to an HND over a degree? And my choice would be politics and sociology, which is close to what I'm doing at the moment. Never really enjoyed economics, too mathmatic, and philosophy, whilst interesting, is not the best way of examining the world in my view. It's more like reading a good novel. A work of fiction, but little more....

What is your favorite thing to do when you have free time?
_chris_

It was like a transition into becoming red really... Started with anti-war demo's, developing a social conscience. It then developed into socialist-reformist leanings, and from there into Marxist views. It has changed my life in that its now the crux of the work i do, working with the various political groups im in, and allows me to analyse situations in a whole new way with dialectics...
Its not an HND, its an HNC, which is a 1 year course which i want to do as i want to leave school, but stay at home for a year. The way to do that is with the HNC course, which actually looks really interesting.
I'm doing higher Maths atm, the maths in economics dont really put me off, but at the moment im not leaning towards the full PPE course...
And, in my free time, i like playing football, playing fiddle or chilling with mates and a couple of beers.

Do you see communism as an inevitability as Marxist dialectics assert?
_chris_
11-08-2006, 11:33 PM
Yes. I just think that eventually, somethings GOT to break, it really does.
(either that, or we all die... but i reckons we've got enough time to get to at least a transitional phase before that happens)

Regarding SA's policy on entryism, do you vote Labour? And if so, would you vote Labour no matter what?
_chris_
11-11-2006, 06:54 PM
I don't vote yet, and unless it was an absolute twat standing in my constituency (ie, alistair darling who stands near me), yes i would vote labour. Unless the socialist candidate had a chance, but then i reckon the entryism would stop being a legit tactic, as the new mass workers party idea would actually be working (which we doubt it will)

Respect seem to be doing quite well. Not a mass workers' party, but you have to start somewhere. Personally I think Labour is unsalvageable, and entryists will be ignored by the middle class elites in the party. Labour has always been antagonistic towards socialists at the top levels, even before the party had its first MPs.
Where is your favourite place in the world?

Do you think that communism could ever be adopted by our capitalist society, and what would you see bringing such a change?
_chris_
11-14-2006, 12:22 AM
Sal - Next time i get into an entryist debate, i'll post my response here, but i really am not in the mood right now...
and Al - In short, no. Society would have to be far different as far as attitudes are concerned. It would need far more support, thus would require more class conciousness, which is mostly dictated by conditions.

Have you ever been in love?
_chris_
11-16-2006, 11:58 PM
nope. deep lust though :p
How did you differentiate between lust and love? If you've never been in love, how do you know that what you interpreted as deep lust wasn't love?
_chris_
11-24-2006, 09:25 PM
Um, cuz i assume love feels a hell of a lot stronger than just really fancying them...
It is an assumption, but i safe one i'd bet

I wrote a parody of the paragraph you get given to copy out if yer late getting into school, which was funny as fuck (but not at all clean), and was dared to hand it in to a member of head staff next time i was late...
Did it, but it never got read. Turns out they never even scan the things

Do you believe in UFO's ?
_chris_
11-28-2006, 08:59 PM
Yes. Throw something accross the a park, someone goes, wait, what the fuck was that, its an unidentified flying object.
But i doubt alien craft (if it exists) would have much reason to come to earth.

What kind of shoes do you wear?
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
How long do your shoes tend to last you?
_chris_
