Lookin for good Music Schools

I've been trying to make plans to go back to college, but don't know where I want to go or many good places to go that isn't way too expensive. What I want to study is Music Business or something like it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thnx

I know that UC Santa Cruz has a great music department, it's where I'm lookin to transfer to, and my major is music, but I'm focused on the prefomance aspect instead of bussiness. UC's are cheap, but only if you're a california resident, so if you do decide to go to one, then I'd suggest moving to the area you want to be in and working and taking some community college classes until you've established residency, whuch I think only takes a few months.

also, in the last issue of Music Connection they had a big thing about music schools and how to get money for them, definatly something to look for.

Music business itself may be a field--I'm not sure--but you'll probably have much wider choices if you go into a business program and take some music courses in addition... far more schools could offer that.

Having looked around myself and talked to some folks in the music industry--recording, sound engineers, orchestral managers--it seems having an MBA is pretty popular these days. So I'd say look into business programs and then look at what the school's music department can offer as far as your interests.

Thanks for the advice. UC of Santa Cruz doesn't seem to have music business. What I really want to do is perform but I'd rather not be taught how to play. At least not the instrument that I wanna play which is guitar. I used to go to WVWC for a performance degree in Cello and Bass, but I had a little too much fun and didn't last long. Anyways, I thought about just a business program but in those you don't get a lot of the hands on work and internships you would get through a music business program. Thanks for the advice though. Anymore would definately be appreciated.

I was gonna go there for their business program, they also have arts and music as well. so if you want a combination it is probably a good place to look. but with private education it can get a little bit pricey.
