Hey all,
I'm not surprised about the crap my eyes have been subject to today, seeing as most of the persons who would valiantly point out the HIPocrysy have been coveniently banned.
Anyway, I'm not complaining about being banned, because I went out of my way to make it happpen, just like I went out of my way to get kicked out of school, or fired from my job, so that I could move on to other, superior institutions where teachers/bosses just got on with their jobs, and we got on with ours, and nobody saw a need to rebel because the need to didn't exist in the first place.
If you're going to run a free speech site like an unhip republican- Nonsensical or purely fun threads being the smoking guns that could well make their way to becoming the Mushroom Cloud of corporate spam. Anyone who shows criticism towards the leadership, whether in jest or in good honest self defence, is ultimately against it. The best way to protect freedom is to impinge upon it.
OK, maybe i'm going too far there, but Hipforums is a site that deals with PEOPLE. They're going to misbehave, they will instinctively disagree with authority, even if it is for their own good, they are going to want to speak freely, nonsensically, they are not overly concerned with a few KB of bandwith as they are letting off steam from having to deal with being treated like a fixed, non random machine in their jobs, their schools etc....hence the popularity of random thoughts.
And the most horrible facet of human nature, that everybody must learn about, is that the more you try and control it, complain about it, lose face and patience and lose your temper over a bunch of people doing what people do best...............the worse they will get, and sadly, having the word free speech sitting in the browser title bar is going to give them more excuse to do so.
Skip, I assume, a man well read in hippy and alternative lore, should know all of this better than anyone.
The best way to fuck up any institution is to practice too much authority.
That is my opinion, and if you don't care for it, we'll agree to disagree y'all :D
Anyway, I love all of you, and the time I have spent on here, bleary eyed and stupid brained, talking shit, or simply talking to you all, has been awesome, really awesome :D
