I recently rented this movie and really loved it.
HOWEVER, Pig's accent really bothers me. Why does his supposed Irish accent sound like a Jamaican accent?
ARe there really accents like that in Ireland?

Accents are often a funny sticking point in films. I like a bit of consistency. Take Alexander for example. Angelina Jolie does a good Greek accent, but everyone else is doing an Irish accent, even if they aren't Irish themselves. And also, Troy - we all know Brad Pitt can do accents, so why doesn't he in this film? Crazy....

I watched DISCO PIGS last year (mainly because i'm slightly obsessed with Cillian Murphy). I didn't pick up on a Jamaican accent, but I love it whenever he says "think."

What about Johnny Depp's terrible Cockney accent in "From Hell". What a joke.

I don't know...it was like he was saying "dat" for "that", things like that...just reminded me of a heavy Jamaican accent. I've never heard an Irish accent quite like that.

Ahhh to be sure :) I have heard the Irish say "Dat" instead of that. There are dialects in Irish too...

Ah, glad to see another obsessed with Cillian! :) It's so hard to get some of his films here, because they're European films and hard to find in Canada. But every once in a while, one pops up in the video store....
I kinda liked Disco Pigs, although sad at the end.... :( Poor Cilly.... :( It played on tv on the IFC channel. *Adore* the Irish accent ;) Didn't catch the Jamaican but I can kinda see it...
