Who likes the Alien series of films? I love 'em, but can you choose a favourite?

Mine is the first, "Alien". It just surpasses all of 'em for atmosphere, I had bad dreams for weeks after I read the book.
I really like the fourth one too for it's extreme B-movie-ness and close proximity to the caged aliens.

I do love the Aliens series. Unforunately I find it hard to take Alien seriously, as the models are just so ridid. The only bit that scared me was the facehugger, the alien itself was crap. Aliens was a much better film for me, also I saw that one first, as a kid, so it got me going a lot better. I know it was an action film as opposed to a straight horror, but there was enough in there to make you jump. Alien 3 was a crap spin on the Alien idea, which didn't have John Hurt in or Ian Holm, and they made the first film. Once Hurt was gone, and once the facehugger was gone, I found Alien boring, except the bits with Ian Holm in. Alien Ressurection was quite good, I kind of liked that as an action film, but it wasn't a patch on Aliens. Nor was AVP, and I didn't like how they ripped the Alien canon up with that....

I think they are all soo.. per. Except Aliens Vs Predator, the Robocop 3 of the Alien movies. Get the kids in!!!

hehe, I suppose it's a matter of taste really; I can't remember AvP at all, it must have been awful!

I like aliens the best out of the series
I think the whole series was good and the books are good, Ive only seen the first three films so can judge later films

As far as the movies, The first two were really good. My ex was a HUGE fan and said not to bother with 3 and 4, though my hubby says they were good for special effects value.

I really liked AVP. I thought it was a pretty interesting mix of the Alien and Predator movies. Yeah, it was OTT; but it was still pretty action packed and good, and not too predictable. Of course, then again, I kept hoping the Predator and that chick would get it on or something. (maybe i'm just warped)

I meant in the first film, it was too rigid and clunky. By the second film, they'd made them organic enough to put the fear of god factor into it....
