Is it ok to tell lies to the Police in order save your own finances and to avoid inconveiniencing yourself when taffic/roadworthy fines are just about raising taxes to pay for politicians' superannuation?

Well that would depend if you could justify it with an adequate argument that at least stood up to an argument that said it was not ok to do these things. So you will either need to argue from the perspective that all morality stems from selfish actions that only coincidentally produce good in the world, or you will have to argue that if everyone persued a similar course of action the benifits to society would be better increased
Opposing you would be arguments about moral imperatives, about that an action is only good if it provides good to more than the person committing the act, how you decide that blah blah blah, do you really want to put yourself through all that - I might just go down the pub instead
