My First Gow: Would like to share pictures but I don't get how to post them. I tried uploading but the files were too big. Tried looking for info but I can't find it; can someone help me out? Don't laugh!
Do I have to compress the images then upload to member galleries then use the url from that to get them in this box???
Please help....

These little buggers look way way better (than this photo) after two days under HID. Formerly kept under around 200+ w cfl and tubes. They are still so small after 4 weeks because I kept them in styrofoam cups, then 12 oz beer cups, and now these pots. I did that so they wouldn't get ahead of me, and to stress the hell out of them. If all 8 of these go male...I'll just have to plant more seeds I geuss. Seeds from dirtweed, just terrible terrible brown bricky shite.
I'll get photos of my rig in a day or two--gotta use a friends digi

Got thermometer yesterday and I woke up at 2 am to check temps--55 degrees F!!!! Detached the duct and left the fan running, and checked again at about 6:30, temps were about 62. After the lights been on an hour its around 75-80. So I put up some aluminum foil. Gonna check and see if I get hotspots in a few hours. 55 degrees! That sucks just one more thing I have to remember to do everyday. And the winter is coming so this could get a little complicated...

Hey Con sounds like your grow is coming along!! One thing you can do for your cold temps is look into a cheap portable heater ($10US or so). I live in a cold winter climate also with hot summer climate so it's quite a battle when switching between the two but can be controlled. And i dont know about puttin potatoes in there.......i understand the purpose........but wouldn't it just draw more of them plus other insects in also?? I'd just look into a cheap organic pest spray.....plantitearth.com has many nice products at a cheap price. Anyways thought id put in my 2c. Lookin good, keep the updates comin.

thanks M4...yeah, i shoulda put more slices down, I didn't get that part right away. They can't come in thru the fan but I geuss they must get out the lip of the duct and come in thru the cracks, as I said it's not sealed yet. I'll check out the organic sprays and look around for some DIY recipes, solutions. I set a fan on high and rustled the plants to get up movin then did my best to kill some and get'em outta my cab, but they're still here this morning.
Temps were 95F when I woke up, attached duct, dropped 10 degrees in ten minutes. Yesterday LST'd, topped one indicadom spur-of-the-moment, made a temporary reflector. Don't get those hotspots with the foil, i assume since im only 150 watts.
*some background*
I'm only trying to get through a whole life cycle. Yield and potency, I don't care about, I just want to keep them alive till ripe. The first time I grew, aside from the bush that grew well in a friends setaside land, I got 4/4 males indoors. Second grow, kept 1 awesome fem that ended up 8 feet tall--flourescents and too much superthrive. Chopped her after a few weeks for security. They're on Rose freaking food now, I think 16-24-16, it's worked before and I use the smallest amount with a drop of superthrive. Hyponex soil/perlite. MG 10-50-10 for bloom. Yep. Just keeping them alive and %75 healthy is the only goal. After THAT i'll look in to all the great products I see everyone use. I swore I'd never buy again...but yesterday I was frazzled and my elfbabe gave me twunny bucks for some green brick "mids". Actually it's just shwag with a few tigerstripe seeds, but around here...does the job i geuss.

Sounds like you got the nutes figured out.......i know you know but be very careful with that rose food, looks pretty potent. Hey Conrev!
M4N is right! It may be possible (if you are really good!) but it's not a good idea. Putting out fully developed seeds is just about the last thing the plant does before it dies - it is already in the process of dying!!! If you are able to rescue it from the clutches of "the Grim Reaper" you have to nurse it back to health; but it wont be the same again because it is all "burned out".
Some people reveg after harvesting sinsemilla to get a (much smaller) second harvest; but in that case the plant isn't nearly as burned out. It is much more efficient to grow a whole new crop.
I'm not sure I understand what you're asking about cloning! Cuttings, for clones, should be taken from a plant before it goes into flowering stage.
M4N14C42O
09-24-2006, 04:56 AM
im thinking he meant grow out the plant till flowering, take clones, pollinate and make seeds, then try to save the plant and do it all over again......but why would you need clones and seeds???? Id just take clones.....then ya always got a female and a much quicker harvest ;)

"is it possible to clone, seed, and reveg a mother? do people do that?"
buffoonman
09-25-2006, 01:34 AM
I think he means can you re-veg a seeded plant. After it has had cuttings removed from it. Not that removing cuttings would make any diference. I would say you can re-veg a seeded plant.

Yeah it was just a wanton question. I'm nowhere near utilizing that type of info anyhow, so I didn't just post it in different forum. But yeah, clone, seed, reveg. No particular reason, just thought it would be cool to get allll that outta one plant.
My plants are at 5 1/2 weeks, one has started alternating. A clumsy topping has turned out okay. I'm flippin to 12/12 soon as I get off my ass make my cab light tight since my photoperiod will be during the cold nights. I'm hoping for them to show sex on their own since I still have one more transplant. Howver I took another hour of light away, so they're at 17/7, started at 19/5. Stay tuned...

Just snapped a plants neck. Little sad it was good plant. Smelled like cheese. Down to 7. Watering every 3-4 days, feeding a tiny amount of ferts w/superthrive once every 2 or 3 waterings. Using my dehumidifier water but I got some distilled water, hydrogen peroxide, and some epsom salt as it appears one or two have flirted with Mag def. Shifting photoperiod and resetting at 8hrs darkness. In the next two days I will seal the cab and make a passive exhaust. If no preflowers by 10/2 will flip to 12/12 and transplant asap. Looks like a likely scenario. Also add red cfls at that time. Then try not to have nightmares about hermies.
I save the plants I chop for tea. Have to wait for the chlorophyll to break down but I've tried a sample and it's really soothing, makes my blood warm. I don't know if this one is worth saving since I've fertilized it with chemical salts?
Ugh I want buds!

(sighs)...still waiting for some definite sex on all but one of my plants...switched to 15/9...cab is 95% sealed, just waiting for two good fems to emerge so I can transplant and flip to 12/12...sprayed tobacco juice/mint mouthwash all around the bases of the pots and moistened top soil, has reduced gnats drastically. Smells good too. just a few more days...almost 7 weeks in veg! Won't do it this way again, that's for sure. In the future I'll jsut transplant during 12/12...

So I got impatient and transplanted last night. One girl smells very citrusy and another is spicy musky cinnamon. I kept a third by stacking pots. It's funny; the brickweed these seeds came from often had a cinnamon smell that I chalked up to plastic, but it seems to be a pheno trait. That is so cool. I hope the finished product retains this characteristic, as I hope the citrus one does too.
So tonight I'm cutting an exhaust as I've had leave the door open with with a fan blowing in the last few days have been unseasonably warm and the cab easily hits 90. Flipping to 12/12 tomorrow will have pics up tonight.
Gnats have been greatly reduced thanks to a mouthwash/tobacco tea mixture. Been misting topsoil and drenching the bottoms of pots and cab floor. I think In the future I'll use the tea alone and maybe just put a bowl of mouthwash on the floor for vapes. This is a fun hobby...

I guess the outside humidity is up cuz after eight hours of light last night I found some leaves stuck together by condensation. Got an exhaust cut but it's gonna take another fan. I may have to cut another powered intake to mix some dry basement air in with the moist outdoor. And more than likely I'll have to buy a small heater fan soon, it may snow this week! One of my plants may be a hermie, will have to wait and make sure. In the coming months I think I'll figure out a mom and clone chamber so I can do scrog in the future. Temps never get above 80, but I have had to have my little fan off during the dark period. Had a little flare of powder fungus but that stopped it. I'll get a second fan in there soon. Found 1 seeded calyx on the main cola, which is starting to resemble something I have only seen in pictures!
So I had my nose in there and while I can't smell them, when i get real tight the smell is unmistakable--ORANGE JUICE! Like, freshly squeezed pulp filled breakfast OJ!!!! hmm this is just outta curiosity.........but what do ya mean by, " it was mosdef going ALL hermie, kinda gross."????? How is it gross????? But definately better off using a reputable strain......better high, better growth, usually more females.....all in all just better ;) As for keepin up on the last plant....i would say just get rid of as many balls and bananas that you can find and try to keep it as much female as possible......even if there are some seeds.......schwag bags come with seeds so it should still get ya high....just not as tasty. And why wait until spring??? If you have a HPS you should be able to grow indoors anytime.......maybe i missed something (a reason you have to wait till spring) but who knows. Sorry bout the he-she's, pick yourself up a reputable strain and start there. Anyways best of luck to ya bud......don't let this grow get ya down.
