I recently found thujone (the active chemical in absinthe) being sold online.
Additionally I found a report on erowid about a wormwood extract being smoked: http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=10100
Anybody know anything about this? I'll try and order some and i'll keep you guys posted on how it goes.
One problem that I may encounter is there is another chemical active in absinthe who's name is something like absinthium that may contribute greatly to the effects of smoked wormwood extract.

pure thujone, like safrole, and a number of essential plant oils is supposed to be carcenogenic. You can google the name of the oil or go to the library and see if you can find the "Handbook of Medicinal Herbs," or similiar text. Knowing that safrole is potentially carcinogenic has never stopped me from harvesting or drinking sassafras tea and won't stop me from consuming mugwort or wormwood, however the amount of the essential oils in the natural product is tiny when compared to consuming the pure oil.
I am kind of a curenando when it comes to wild plants, herbs and allies. I grow them or harvest them from the wild and have for longer than most of you have been alive...in fact I learned much of this from my grandmother, several great uncles and several purebloods that I have known. But even at that, i have always supplemented what I have learned from them with modern knowledge of the chemicals and ingredients in the plants themselves.
Just be careful with pure essences of any kind and from any plant for MANY folks have had bad experiences with them...some didn't live to tell of it.
I am not saying to not experiment...just go slow and be careful...find a guide if possible.
