oh shiiiit beetle juice how did i forget about beetle juice i loved that show even though it wasnt really that great, and rockos modern life taught me about the facts of life pete and pete made me determined to get a tatoo at age 7, i wanted to go to summer camp because of salute your shorts and are you afraid of the dark made me piss my shorts, that shit was scary as hell. I remember trying to watch are you afraid of the dark in the dark and never making it to the first commercial break before turning the lights back on and making my sister watch it with me.
i spent my childhood watching nick too, nothing to be ashamed of it was a simpler time that i wish i could go back to.

Not sure about '15'. NBC had a show long ago called 'James at 15'.

And those shows are just classic. Those are some of the greatest shows. Don't forget Wild and Crazy Kids, Rugrats, Doug. All That was one of the sickest shows ever until the cast changed. They did try to bring back Wild and Crazy Kids but it wasnt the same, instead of ramping toy cars through brick walls with explosives...they had kids climbing giant blow up obsticle courses.
And even though they were on Cartoon Network, i grew up partly on classic looney toons. those were just awsome, i'd watch them today if they were still on the channels i get.
On saturdays i would always watch WB 11 because of the Pokemon craze (i remember getting pokemon blue at...sears was it? for the original gameboy which i still have). Nick tops pokemon but as far as growing up it was a close second.

Pokemon was a craze in Japan at least ten years before the U.S. The Smurf thing was in Europe decades before the U.S. New things make their way over to the U.S. on a barge. :)
Angry Beavers had some great humor.

I grew up on many of the classic Nickelodeon shows and still prefer them. I vaguely remember Fifteen, and that I didn't like it at that age. But I liked the TRUE Classic Nick shows. Things changed when Rugrats, Doug, Ren & Stimpy, Rocky's Modern Life, and others came along. Most true Classic Nick fans don't consider them to be classics at all.

Both seasons of Pete and Pete are on DVD. It's about time too, that show is great! And what about Are You Afraid of the Dark? I used to love that when I was about 6.
Ah, the memories...

I loved You Can't Do That on Television. Isn't that where getting "slimed" got it's start? What Would You Do was great too. I remeber for a birthday party when I was younger, my mom set up our garage like the set of that show and we (all the guests) did dares and hidden talents and threw pies at each other.

Nickalodean used to have a show where kids debated issues of the day. The host was a young guy with blonde hair and a boyish face. Don't remember his name right now. That was one of the few shows that had a level of intelligence and debate that isn't seen these days.

Kinda like Nick News w/ Linda ellerbee (sp?)? That show occasionally brought up some good issues.

Linda Ellerby used to do an overnight news show in the early 80s. Haven't seen her in a while. She had a bout with cancer years ago.

Kinda like Nick News w/ Linda ellerbee (sp?)? That show occasionally brought up some good issues.Yep, I remember they had some serious topics, from pollution to AIDS. One landmark show had Magic Johnson on along with other kids who had the disease, educating the audience about it. They were able to explain complicated "grown up" issues to kids at that time, and actively show them how its important and effects there lives. I really think I became a news junkie because of this, along with current events in school, weekly readers, Time magazine for Kids etc. When I was growing up, kids just seem to know more...nowadays they couldn't care less about the goings on of the world around them.

I loved Pinwheel, Nickelodeon's first show ever. Hardly anybody's seen it, but you can check out clips on Youtube. It had Paddington Bear and Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings and what not.

Didn't Nick start out as a PBS-like educational channel? I thought that it was started up by two women and meant to be like PBS but changed fairly quickly into an entertainment channel.

I really think I became a news junkie because of this, along with current events in school, weekly readers, Time magazine for Kids etc. When I was growing up, kids just seem to know more...nowadays they couldn't care less about the goings on of the world around them. The 80s was the peak of the news junkie era and late night news-talk shows, especially early to mid 80s in the U.S.. They were actually informative and serious back then, not the brash loud-mouth Chris Matthews Jerry Springer type shows that are littering the airwaves today.
