Thank, that was my favorite hen. She was such a gentle bird, the most laid back chicken I've ever owned. She'd even let you pet her and pick her up and she'd remain completely calm in your hands. Of course, my terrier mauled her because she was such a friendly and easy target.

Growing up, it was my ambition to be a herpetologist. Reptiles and amphibians, as well as insects (all organism I could find in my own backyard) were my "gateway" into learning about the universe around me. My first portal into studying nature.

One of my earliest memories is chasing anoles in Florida, where I was born. I owe reptiles a huge debt to my intellectual and spiritual development.

Their convictions blind them from understanding the basic grains of truth in a rival's argument by interfering with their perception of information. But who isn't guilty of doing this?

We all have our situations where our personal convictions explode and obscure our sight, allowing truthful elements of an opponents logic to slip by us. Or, at least a situation where we recognize those truths, but then arrogantly under appreciate them.

People that turn things into a debate can be rude. But I think it's a case of them not having realized how impolite and irritating it can be. Why do they want to argue about nothing, about things that have no consequences?

Maybe they just aren't tuned into the exciting battles of ideas and information that are being constantly waged over our heads, battles important enough that just a quick glance up there can tell us that our petty squabbles about which is a better breed of dog or what model car is their favorite.

Maybe they are people who are very aware of the profoundly important battle of values and ideas that is constantly waging itself, but are exhausted from those great battles and want to hide from them, or just take a break momentarily. Maybe they want to argue about something light and unimportant, to explore the art of debating without debating the deeper issues that incite too much passion.

Maybe it's good for the mind to take a break from the truth, to think of shallower subjects occasionally and allow it some rest throughout the day.

But imagine that those subjects being offered for discussion are not so shallow after all and "what is your favorite car and what brand of air freshener do you use if any?" are actually meaningful questions and people have the right to become impassioned and defend their position on an idea because values located deep within the cores of these ideas are so important to them. What then? Who is to say where the line is drawn between your trivialization of what is an important idea for them to take a stance on and communicate that stance (to be heard!), and their search for truth interfering with a more casual discussion of yours, functioning as a time to get some needed rest from the more intense debates.

I personally like to give the benefit of the doubt to the people searching for truth. I do think they should heighten their self awareness to help them realize when they are taking the search too far. Borders and self limitations can be helpful if we understand why we're putting them up. Do not kill, rob from, attack, sexually harass anyone. Do your best to behave in a way that doesn't hurt others unnecessarily. Those are good borders for people to follow I think.

I only really post in the psychedelics forums, so I don't know too many people, but I would have to say the most annoying people are those who judge others for what drugs they take, those who walk into the DRUG forum and start posting about not-drug things, and people who take things too seriously.
