Whats the strangest thing that's ever happened to you?

PinkMoon
08-23-2006, 09:29 PM
Bad Jonathon...

what is your opinion about keeping wax upon bears? do you not think it cruel? Do you think it would be more humane to get rid of wax..maybe by melting it?

How many of your stories are true?

jonny2mad
08-24-2006, 12:28 AM
The vast majority of my storys are true if not I will say this is a made up story .

keeping wax on bears is better than attacking them with what to them must appear to be a flame thrower

A couple of years I just remember you laying into Islam a lot.

How much have you changed since 2004?

Peace-Phoenix
08-29-2006, 06:07 AM
Oh he loves to lay into Islam. When I first read his posts on these forums, I think I swore at him and thought he was a crazy, ignorant, prejudiced git. I still do, but he's also one of the nicest, kindest, funniest, maddest people I've met and I can overlook his ridiculous politics. It's the Mr Kipling effect. He may have drowned Scruffy, but he does make exceedingly good cakes....

I still dislike islam, Ive gone slightly quiet for the last few months as Im busy but as Im right Im not going to change my views :0) .
Ive given links to sites where you can research what I have to say I cant do anymore if you guys dont want to do the research

I could ask what you guys see in islam thats that good, and why you dismiss over a thousand years of offensive war, civil rights abuse to do with sheriah ,oppression of women, the nearly 6000 jihadi terrorist attacks since 9/11 killing huge numbers of people .

jonny2mad

saudi arabia when I was a kid my dad worked there and bahrain for for years

Sebbi
08-30-2006, 01:55 AM
Did you live there or just visit?

jonny2mad
08-30-2006, 10:14 AM
can a non muslim live in a normal sense in saudi as I remember you cant own property there as a non saudi or non muslim as all saudis are muslim officially ,my dad rented a place I think through a iranian who rented it off a saudi citizen.

I remember he had to smuggle in frank sinatra tapes disguised as tapes of welsh choirs , I believe because sinatra acted in the film cast a giant shadow which gives the jewish view of the background to the creation of isreal.

and I visited, at the time my life was divided between mostly living in england and porthcawl fairground

You told me about your Alsatian that you loved. Would you ever get another dog? And if you could have any pet in the world, what would it be?

jonny2mad
09-04-2006, 06:00 AM
at the moment dont see myself getting another dog for a while, there is a lot of commitment in having a dog and not sure what I will be doing in the future.

if I was to get a pet Id most likely get another alsation or sheepdog maybe a horse or mule

jonny2mad

What is your best skill and what is your worst? What would you like to be better at?

jonny2mad
09-21-2006, 09:59 PM
what made me lose my faith was reading the old testament (I read the bible i think 34 times ) and thinking if there was a god what would he do if he was wise and good .

I didnt think he would allow slavery or some of the other things that go on in the old testament so concluded that it was fake

my best skill is that Im very good in emergencys, Im also good at predicting things....worst skills well I cant ride a bike or swim Id like to be able to do really good close up magic tricks

Peace-Phoenix
09-22-2006, 01:17 AM
Yes, I can imagine you being good in emergencies. But I saw you falter when your beard caught on fire. It was like: *Eeeeeek! What do I do? What do I do? Do I run around? Do I roll my head on the ground? Eeeeeeeek! Pat pat pat pat!*

Do you plan on learning to ride a bike or swim?

jonny2mad
09-22-2006, 10:14 AM
nope dont plan to .
and I thought my reactions to the beard fire were fast and effective, I may have played up the appearance of confussion for comic effect but I did the most logical thing to do in the circumstances

Peace-Phoenix
09-22-2006, 10:49 AM
It was several hours before you put your beard out, the panic just made time seem to go faster for you. Then you wouldn't talk for the rest of the night http://www.hipforums.com/forums/images/smilies/embarassed.gif What is your favourite cheese of all time?

09-23-2006, 09:48 PM
Haha, still kick myself that I missed the whole beard fire incident!

So ... beard fires excluded, I think you would be quite good in an emergency. Where or how do you think you gained this skill? What is the biggest emergency situation you've had to deal with?

jonny2mad
09-05-2008, 04:51 PM
Have you ever been in love?

well most of my life I put off love or was scared of commitment or had other things to do , the nearest Ive ever come ended in disaster .

one thing you learn is life often times doesnt turn out how you expect or the way you want .

funny enough this was what the angel told me years ago in glastonbury likely the angel was something being generated by my own mind, anyway you do what you can and accept the things you cant change

it may be your fate to die young , or get really sick , it may be your fate to live alone and never be loved by anyone , this doesnt mean you have to live a worthless life .

real romantic love in the traditional sense is rare or not that common in that not many people have the sort of love you may find in wuthering hieghts , I think most people want to find that sometime in their life because not much is as valuable .

jonny2mad
09-05-2008, 05:19 PM
Where or how do you think you gained this skill? What is the biggest emergency situation you've had to deal with?

I think reading and my general outlook, my father was very simular actually his father was like that , my father was quite tough what I mean by that is he was very logical when he found himself in a tough situation .
he was the sort of person who would have cut his own hand off if he got it caught and that was the only way he had to survive ,Im not joking or building him up as I saw how he reacted to having motor neurone and dieing he wasnt just surface brave , really from his and my point of view he died well

he loved the desert and had cheated his age to get into the navy in world war two he was either 14-15 when he was doing convoys across the atlantic he did convoys to russia .

The biggest emergency was probably keeping people from moving me when I was paralysed from the neck down , I helped get some people out of a house fire once and dealt with incidents in festivals but my neck injury was most likely the most scary because I knew my only chance of getting better was not being moved and I had a crowd of drunk people who wanted to move me .

dealing with aggressive people can be quite hard stopping that man jumping on that womens head a few monthes ago was challenging as your trying to stop him whomping you as well as trying to look after the injured women

PinkMoon

I'm still giggling at the beard incident years on

jonny2mad

well at least growing the beard and setting it on fire proved useful for Impromptu situational Comedy

Who would win, a horde of orcs or the French Foreign Legion?

Who would win, a horde of orcs or the French Foreign Legion?

if it was the entire french foreign legion the legion would win , if it was a small group of the legion the orcs might win but the small group of the legion would most likely die well and the rest of the legion would come and avenge them .

Really you should define win , because to for example a samurai winning isnt just about being alive at the end of a battle

And in fact there is the old saying he who goes into a battle to live will die and he who goes into a battle to die will live , Im not sure if thats from the hagakure but its samurai .

Now this is partly because if you go into a battle or a fight and your afraid of death or being hurt your not relaxed and that makes you slow anger can make you slow too and this means your more likely to get killed , but also there is a deeper meaning to do with what it meant to be samurai and how to live life

from the hagakure
The Way of the Samurai is found in death. When it comes to either/or, there is only the quick choice of death. It is not particularly difficult. Be determined and advance. To say that dying without reaching one's aim is to die a dog's death is the frivolous way of sophisticates. When pressed with the choice of life or death, it is not necessary to gain one's aim.
We all want to live. And in large part we make our logic according to what we like. But not having attained our aim and continuing to live is cowardice. This is a thin dangerous line. To die without gaming one's aim is a dog's death and fanaticism. But there is no shame in this. This is the substance of the Way of the Samurai. If by setting one's heart right every morning and evening, one is able to live as though his body were already dead, he pains freedom in the Way. His whole life will be without blame, and he will succeed in his calling.
The above statement needs some thinking about and not everyone will be able to understand it but with that approach to life even a group who "lose " and get wiped out can win some traditional japanese would understand that .

a long and rambling answer and although this philosophy has a great appeal to me its not for everyone , I dont think everyone even in ancient japan applied it and you need to be in the right frame of mind , which Im not much of the time , to be that degree of fearless is hard

Do you hear the theme song from Rocky in your head?

at times if I think of it but not now I really should do some running , actually when i finish replying to this I shall run and may well play that on my mp3 player

Do you have a favourite playing card? not sure but I think jack of clubs or hearts I like the queen of clubs too.

what are you doing for your birthday ?

have no plans so far so no idea

When did you first become paranoid?

jonny2mad
03-03-2009, 11:06 PM
I dont think I am paranoid , I dont trust government or big business but thats just a result of reading history and watching them in practice .
I dont believe the world is as safe as it appears , I dont really believe in the goodness of the police or army or that they will save you .
I have a distopian, survivalist view of the world that comes from my very early childhood

I watched the first survivors series when I was a child and that and the worrys about oil and resource depletion made me conclude that our world society was doomed .

also my parents had simular views to me especially my father , basically he explained to me when I was about 7-8 that our society was set up in such a way we were heading for a crash .

paranoid as I understand it is a irrational fear , I dont think I have that

well y'know what they say...just b/c you're paranoid...doesn't mean to say that they're NOT out to get you LOL

just started to read through the UK thread were ppl introduce themselves...i found your take on life interesting...if a little dark...do you have russian in your blood perchance??? i'm joking...us scousers can't help it...its in our blood...

hmmmmm i'm certainly not a fluffy bunny type of person BUT i'm the opposite of you when it comes to religion...what is the opposite of an atheist called?? a believer???

whereas you believe its all baloney (each to their own...) i am open to all faiths (like a 7/11???) & believe all are valid & have truth & teaching in them. recently have become quite intrigued by Chabad (one of the world's largest Hasidic movements) tbh the older i've got i've changed to a feeling of i've GOT to believe/IT has to be TRUE!! b/c really whats the other alternative?? worm food?? no thanks...i intend to be off floating through the aether with the fairies/angels/elves/pixies whatever LOL...think heavens what you make it...(was that a song??)

seriously though...aren't we all just too god damn special (& i include our animal friends too....both furry & non furry) to be just a series of random events???

don't get me wrong i believe in evolution & the big bang...but can't there be room (even just a teeny tiny bit???!!) for a designer??? a man (or woman or being or energy...i'm very easily pleased & don't sweat the details....) with a plan so to speak. back to religion...have no idea why there is such a fuss & divide?? IF there is a god...we've all been made from same blueprint so i'm assuming only one of them too...y'know the god/being entity thing...faith is one thing religion another...like the gandhi quote many paths to god etc...

one of my fave quotes...

if you don't believe in magic you may as well be dead...
Einstein
(to lazy to google so may not be word perfect!!)

anyway take care...

& watch out for those bears!!

an oldie just for you...so....
do you believe in magic??

Well I used to believe in god and heaven I’m a ex priest.

now I just believe we rot , I didn’t design life and the whole game I’m involved in and the fact that we rot and that’s it isn’t very jolly, but knowing that should make our life now more important that’s why we need to live this life with passion and love.

it makes me sad that people myself included don’t for the most part live life like its not a rehearsal the things most people think are important I think worthless, but I suppose it takes time to see that they are worthless .

At the moment I’m clearing things out of my life so everyday I have less things I feel the things I have own me and I’m not free but that will change .

I don’t know if my view of life is that down I don’t worry about ending or death or that at some point I wont exist because I cant do anything about it I wont know I don’t exist because I wont exist, all I can do is control the way I play this life that I have now, I cant control what happens to me or what other people chose to do but pah such things don’t matter.

The samurai would try to live life like they were already dead meaning to say they would contemplate their death in lots of nasty ways every day so they accepted where they were, or they were advised to live their life like it was a dream again this would take away things like the fear of death or illness or aging or hardships or fear of pretty much anything.

I don’t think I have Russian blood but I have a great attraction to the Mongols I like the Russians and would see someone thinking I had Russian blood as a compliment

Ho 2 mad from nomad,

Once was when I took an adversarial role with you....mostly over your view with Islam.
But Believing in doing the homework....I shut up.
Having come from deep spiritual roots and partaking of the mystic bent and traveling a far Way therein.....I tend to speak even less.

But you I honor because you spoke, while passionately, of Knowing the truth, yet not requiring that anyone believe what you had come to, but that they search to find what they themselfs can take as truth.
All truths being bent to the individual perspective.

Being now the hermit more than I ever though I would be and living mainly in the woods....but hey I run a paperroute at night out in the deer, bear, and coyote country of the finger lakes of western New York state (not to be confused with the city....PLEASE)...I find myself more fey than not.

And should you ever leave the isle 'cross the sea, would love to share sojourning the high desert of this land and beyond, and the warm fire of comaraderie.

Blessings along your Way.....ahh the lessons learned

Namaste (my spirit bows to your spirit)
