View Full Version : Searching Disabled!
Sorry to inform everyone that for the time being, our keyword searches are disabled. We're trying to improve the performance of the site, and so we're trying to see what some things do for performance.
I hope to soon have a separate Title search for threads. This will help you find things from the start of the new forums. But if you don't put the right keywords in the title of your threads - THEY WILL NEVER BE FOUND!
So never title a thread such as: "Just wanna say..." or "Random thought" or some title that doesn't convey the subject of the thread. Be smart when naming threads and you'll always get traffic to it.

So there's not going to be anymore criteria searches? I didn't use it too often, but when I needed something specific and couldn't remember the title it helped out enormously by just remembering the creator of the thread.
Oh well. If it improves loading times and such, I'm all for it.
You can still bring up other searches like your posts, another member's posts and the latest posts. When we get the title searches going, the only thing missing will be a full-text search of all the posts, which creates the most problems and server overhead.
Update: I've added the forum threads to the Hip search function, this will allow you to search thru the last 300 thread titles in each forum plus get other relevant links from other sites. It will be updated at least once a week, until I can get a thread search programmed to look at all threads since day one on the new forums.
Just put your search query into the box in the left column of any page...
Or go to our search engine at http://hipsearch.net (http://hipsearch.net/)

nice... good to see things running. This forum is so huge, it's good to have some kind of search happening to make info a bit easier to access.

Sorry we can't have a complete index of everything, but that creates too big files and the server can't deal with it, without adding more servers (everyone with this software has the same problem).
I really miss not being able to use the search, but it's one price we pay for popular success without the financial success to pay for it.

ah that does suck, then. But even with a partial index, it's still alright.... I mean, whatever is there, is great.... better than nothing.
