Entheogens are substances that cause you to find god within yourself or in other words have a spiritual experience. Mushrooms and DMT are entheogens. LSD to an extent, but mushrooms and dmt in smoked form as well as ayahuasca I'd say fit the term more properly. Oh and peyote and other mescaline-containing cacti.

WEll they don't all do the same thing. DO you mean the best one to trip with or the best one to relax with? i mean lotus and kratom are no good if you want to trip but if you want to relax, smoking a dmt-containing plant would be no good.

Smoking a dmt containing plant is useless.

you shouldn't be so strict with your interpretation of entheogens. hell i know people that have said they have found god while drunk. so by your definition alcohol is an entheogen. experiences have to do entirely with the internal and external stimuli. so either you are already thinking about or something around you makes you think about these religious things causing the entheogenic experience. the drug just facilitates (sp?) the experience, it does not cause them. therefore any psychoactive is a potential enteogen.
although, i will agree that in general psychedelics are "more" entheogenic that most other psychoactives
