I totally agree. The new patriot act, that's total bullshit and infringement on our rights. The US thinks that we'll see the light and turnaround when Kerry gets in office, but I think it's going to be the same bullcrap again only a democrat is saying, and is less harsh (? Lesser of two evil?). I wish that pot would be legalized. I think it's holding back the US cause weed can be used as shirts, paper, all that good stuff and it would be cheaper and less harsh on the trees (when it comes to paper) and with smoking weed we can see the evils of America. They don't want that happening. Land of the free, yeah...
That's my 120 cents (or words).
I think it should be illegal, but six months is quite a harsh penalty for just a pipe.

a true land of freedom from both stress and mundaneness for all would be a wonderful thing to create. i don't know where we could build it where we wouldn't get shot at or be taking it away from somebody else who was already there though. other of course then in our minds and on this 'city of the mind'/internet.
--
perhapse if we were to begin by not expecting any indiology, economic theory, belief or form of government to automagicly get us there we might be able to start making steps in its general direction. steps like lowering stress by boycotting aggressiveness. steps like sincerly romantacizing and rewarding people for permitting themselves to enjoy the exercize of whatever creative and or intillectual capacities they may happen to have without rejecting out of hand the inhierent mutual responsibility to avoid causing harm, or at least recognizing that whatever is harmed we all have to live with whatever kind of pile of crap doing so has made of it.
--
freedom begins with the self dicipline to stop swinging our arms before they get anywhere near where someone else's nose begins. whithout that it is basicly ourselves we are bitching at.
--
not that there's any lack of legitimate cause for complaint. only that we could stop creating a market for it.
and somehow we are going to have to.
not because i'm saying so or because i'd like to live in some kind of eco-socialist quasi-anarchic paradise
simple in order to keep eating and breathing
even if our world isn't quite to that point yet
economic fanatacism certainly appears to be stearing us in that direction
however indirectly by means of the consiquences of it

Freedom does not really exist in the US. I don't know about other countries so please, if you are from outside the US, please respond to this thread so we can all learn from you!!!
First, please see my post in America Attacks Forum entitled -I want to vomit.
Second, realize that everyone and their mother in this country is trying to ban everything from gay marriage to wearing pants below the waist (Louisiana just past a law about that one). Mississippi is also trying to ban women from wearing thongs. (personally, I think what is under my skirt is my own damn buisness and no one elses) We are also trying to tell terminally ill patients that they can NOT have a joint, but we can kill them with chemotherapy.
We need a new movement. I'll start by living my life THE WAY I FREAKIN' WANT TO!!!! Any other ideas?

Its not that we need a new movement, it is just that the movement needs to pick up pace. The are many people who agree with us, just nobody is brave enough to do something about it. We need a larger base to draw from. We need charismatic 'leaders' to strengthen out numbers. Perhaps some folk bands or something. The problem with today's youth is that they have been ground into apathy by the public schools and the media. If we want a revolution, the people must first realize that they need one.

So who then should our leaders of this movement be?

We can do it! If we are the ones that care, then shouldn't it be us?

well the major reason why I think that pot is illigal, it is uncontrolled, and anything that is uncontrolled can promote violence. You hear about alot of murders and suicides due to drugs. Sure, why should the govt' care right, were our own person right? well, in all actuality if you think about it, it weakens our nation in their eyes because it makes us more prone to being powerless, and you know the US of A cannot have that! just my 2 cents.

There haven't been any freedoms in this country for a really long time and it's getting worse all the time. I don't smoke, but I think the herb should be legal. I work in drug rehab. Part of my job is to teach the "evils" of each drug. So help me I can't find any about this wonderful herb. So I go to my group wearing my hemp socks and carrying my hemp purse. And my hair is still wet from my morning shower with hemp shampoo. My face glistens with my hemp moisterizer. My notes are written on hemp paper. And my lunch probably has hemp seed oil in it. Usually when it's on the schedule for me to teach about marijuana, I just change the schedule. I can't tell the group how good it is, but I won't tell them that it is bad. It's much safer than alcohol. It just doesn't have a big industry behind it demanding tht it be mde legal.

Woodenfrog, it's your fault for doing something illegal. You can't complain about it when you knew it to be wrong. To the rest of you, if you hate America so much, move, get out, don't look back. You think it is bad here? Try going on a few mission trips to see what the rest of the world is like.
PS,
Islands are sold on ebay all the time. All of you get together, buy an island, form your own government, and see how bad it gets and how fast.

I hate it when some people suggest to others that have criticisms of life in America to "get out if they hate it so much." I really don't think who have criticisms of American life "hate" the country. I think people realize here that no place is perfect, but America isn't as "free" as it claims (maybe no country is).
Unfortunately, the laws says weed are illegal, but there's so much hyprocrisy regarding the issue of weed it isn't even funny.

Did someones cherios get pissed in? What's all this crap about hating the country you live in? How are you not free? You can stand in a street and yell "We are morons and hate Bush" and you wont get shot by the police. If you want to say that your pet chicken is the creator of your alien race and want to pray to him, you can, and wont get shot. You think freedom involves you being allowed to do whatever you want and face no responsability for your actions. Guess what folks, you are free to act, think, and do what you want when you want. The government doesn't force your entire family to work in a sweatshop(including your children). I know responsability for your actions is a big concept for a few of you, but it's required. You are free to smoke an illegal drug if you want. When you get caught, you are free to get an attorney. When you go to jail, you are free to scream out loud as your cell mate bubba rapes you in the ass. I'm tired of people like you knocking the country that we live in. When I tell you to leave the country, I'm not joking. If you don't like the fact that men died so you could be free, then get the hell out. Go lve with the Canadians.

I have to wonder if anyone has thought about the possibility that all of these problems are societal, not governmental. We the people built this society and then let it proceed even when we saw how it is and was hurting others. You can not look to others to make this s better place. You must lead by example. We are all free in our minds, that is where it matters. Words only get a person so far, action is where revolutions are won. I smoke alot of pot and have never been busted, only because I have always been one step ahead. Live freely in your mind and the rest will follow...

Guess what folks, you are free to act, think, and do what you want when you want. no not exactly, look at Sherman Austin. and why the hell wont there be a retrial for Mumia Abu Jamal? he is innocent in everybodys eyes, except for the rascist pig that was the judge. hes really free now, isnt he?
When I tell you to leave the country, I'm not joking. If you don't like the fact that men died so you could be free, then get the hell out. Go lve with the Canadians.
innocent people, and lots of children, are being killed by our country, the beautiful Amerika, because amerika thinks they need a democracy over there. freedom may be worth a price, but not the price that the people Bush is trying to liberate pay. but hey, its ok for you because your gas prices are gonna come down, is that it?
Real American
07-10-2004, 05:56 PM
Actualy little child, gas prices have gone up. Get your facts straight. In WWII when AMERICA(whats with ppl putting a k in America?) stormed the beachs of Normandy nd such, over 70,000 French lives were lost in 2 days. Sure families missed them, however, they were greatfull for the sacrafice that men put down to fight for them. Something you obviously will never understand, because you think that if they take your pot away, you aren't free.

actually a couple weeks ago gas prices were $2.05 where i live, they are now down to $1.79. hmm wonder where that oil came from....
Real American
07-11-2004, 11:16 PM
Well, I believe that stems from competition between different gas stores. As for here in Houston, gas prices are still rising. Please get educated on what you talk about.
