I have yet to find someone better to listen to while tripping than Jimi Hendrix. Everything about his music will just guide you through an awesome trip. (Also you realise what he is really singing about and you're like "What do sober people think Jimi is talking about?" :D ;) )

infected mushroom is cool, so are shpongle and eat static. Personally, I dig Lusine, Boards Of Canada, Jega, Machinedrum, plastikman, prefuse 73, mr. projectile, and casino vs. japan.
electronic has so many vibrant sounds.

I find that the best music when I'm tripping is just walking into the woods and listening to nature. Be it the sound of a soft breeze moving through the trees or a big thunderstorm.

I like The Doors and Pink Floyd. I know, I know, so cliche, but I just like for my music to be deep and hypnotic with a touch of poetry thrown in. Oddly enough, I like "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong while I'm tripping. I listened to "The End" by The Doors for about 5 hours straight on repeat when I was tripping on 2c-E. Shit was getting deep.

Of course Pink Floyd is great, but Jimi Hendrix is the king of acid. His music is coherent enough to be familiar and comforting, but fluid and improvisational enough to keep you interested while on the trip.

Here's a nice happy hippy peaceful song, guarenteed to give you a flower power sunshine trip!
Possum Kingdom by The Toadies :

make up your mind

decide to walk with me

around the lake tonight

around the lake tonight

by my side

by my side

i'm not gonna lie

i'll not be a gentleman

behind the boathouse

i'll show you my dark secret

i'm not gonna lie

i want you for mine

my blushing bride

my lover, be my lover, ya

don't be afraid

i didn't mean to scare you

so help me jesus

i can promise you

you will stay as beautiful

with dark hair

and soft skin

forever

forever

make up your mind

make up your mind

and i'll promise you

i will treat you well

my sweet angel

so help me jesus

give it up to me

give it up to me

do you want to be my angel(x2)

give it up to me

give it up to me

do you want to be my angel

so help me

be my angel

be my angel

be my angel

do you wanna die (x8)

and i'll promise you

i will treat you well

my sweet angel

so help me jesus

jesus jesus jesus

I really like to listen to Pink Floyd, Tool, Aphex Twin, and Dream Theater. Good taste = but you still missing about a good size truck load of music from the late 60s thru early 70s when the best was recorded.

Shpongle, as mentioned early is some of the most intense trip music I've ever heard. Medeski Martin and Wood are excellent as well. Saw them live on LSD actually. My favorites for psychedelia are:

Super Furry Animals - you absolutely have to check out this band. They have DVDs they created specifically for acid heads. Especially "Rings Around the World."
Perpetual Groove - fucking amazing.
The Grateful Dead - of course.
Phish - trippy as hell. Especially the album "Rift"
Pink Floyd - the staple.
Parliament - notice how many of these bands begin with the letter 'P'?
Spoonfed Tribe - local Dallas band that is very percussive and very psychedelic. On one of their albums they have a cut where all the band members are tripping and improvising on song called "Alpha Draconian, Reptillian". I've seen them thrice on LSD and 17 times total. Check them out.

I'm sure I'll think of more after I trip tomorrow night!

Any P-Funk up to Motor Booty Affair, Herbie Hancock (Columbia Albums), RH Factor, and an album called Sonic Trance by Nicholas Payton. Also the Philidelphia Experiment is the shit. Any music usually goes good with acid, but when I'm listening to some shit that grooves really really hard it takes it to another level.

SWIM would say that the best, most beautiful, and most pleasant psychadelic experiences have been rendered by non-vocal music. SWIM would seriously suggest listening to a band called The Mercury Program while using any type of psychadelic. Very peaceful, very clean. For an adventurous experience, I'd suggest a band called Tera Melos, very chaotic, not imposing, very technical. Lots of geometrics. SWIM would suggest music by Panda Bear (which does have vocals) for DMT at least once. To be sure, SWIM says there are A LOT of geometrics with Panda Bear, some things are VERY Indian (from India) feeling.

I typically enjoy more electronica/techno while tripping, things like:
The flashbulb
Boards of Canada
Lykke Li
Daft Punk
Junior Boys

Just to name a few, love having a large music collection with massive variety, can make trips pretty interesting just letting random roll me songs.

my ipod shuffle playlist (aptly titled "Just trippin on acid") consists of Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, and Jefferson Airplane. Always take this with me when I'm intending to trip, cus if shit goes south, this brings me out, lol

Hmm..almost everything I would've listed has already been covered. Naturally, anything of a psychedelic nature sounds good.

Parliament-Funkadelic is good if you're in the partying mood.

I personally like to listen to this song while I'm tripping. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLRETBpf5q4

I know this thread is supposed to be about music, but I'd like to add that I also like listening to surreal comedy (Steven Wright, Mitch Hedberg, Demetri Martin, etc) during trips. Guaranteed to crack you up.

I see a pic of good 'ol Frank Zappa on here. "Joe's Garage" was one of my favorites for sure. Zappa does Zappa was do'in some fests this past summer. Did anyone get a chance to catch any of these shows.
Another Band of stoner music would have to be "David Peel @ the lower east side band" "Have a Marijuana " was the name of one (ALBUM).
Dr. Hook is another '70s stoner music "Cover of the Rollingstone"
And a artist alot of younger ppl would probally not know, but is some good listening is "John Prine" good song about LSD is "Illegal Smile". These all bring back some good memories of trips past.
