No Signatures - For A Week!

OK, due to complaints about us not allowing our members to post spam in their signatures, we have removed the signature feature from this site for the next week.

After this one week you must remove any outside links (outside the hipuniverse websites). Thereafter any outside links showing in signatures will result in automatic bans.

We are tired of SPAM, and we are tired of hearing you complain cause you can't post SPAM in your sigs.

So either cleanup your sigs, or get banned, or we will make no sigs a permanent feature here.

BTW, everyone has a couple of days to remove the part of their sigs that don't comply with our forum guidelines. Those who don't may be banned!

I voted yes but without images or URL's. It gets annoying to see huge pictures of a person's face in every post. A small quote or something in signatures I've always either enjoyed or didn't mind.

I hope that we get them back. To respond to a person's post about big pictures, perhaps we could compromise? Make picture's be up to a certain size? That way if someone wanted to have a picture of something, they can - but it's not at an obnoxious size. I understand that it can get annoying wading through pages and posts with big signatures, but I like being able to have a small picture there. It identifies me as me.

I hope this goes through, because it'd be a real shame to no longer have signatures.

Only small images, like blinkies and such, should be allowed. It's annoying having to scroll through signatures with huge-ass photos, especially since we have galleries for pictures anyway.

The large images are too distracting, but I like the written sigs.
A compromise - bring back written sigs, but pics in sigs need a size limit.

I want them back. Maybe we should do like another forum I go to, and limit the size of our sig pics. Say, to 300 by 300 pixels ? The big pics in other people's sigs do tend to get annoying.

i think you can bring em back... i have no problem with links to places like myspace and stuff in them, but youre reasoning was logical, and if someone isnt going to post a link to tehHip on their space then why should they be able to do the opposite? sure, there will be some who link to tehHip from there, but i doubt the majourity will, and enforcing that would be a bitch.

I emialed you about this, with no response. No one can change their sig until you stop the unlock on this feature or benefit........how ever you see it.

I do not spam...but until it can be wiped by other members when they know that they should, it is not fair to threaten a ban.

others would have been forced to deal
w/your "big or offensive" sig
in order to see the sigs of others
or
disable sigs completely if they chose to not endure your's.

If that's the case why should HF allow links to myspace?

Go bitch at myspace and get them to change their policy.

Ok, we really need to come up with a straight plan on how to handle sigs. So far, most of us are in agreement that links to outside sites should not be allowed. Some of us want our myspace url to be in our sigs (they already appear in our profile). Some have proposed that we limit the size of our pics. Some have said that we should eliminate pics from our sigs.

Come on people, come up with something we can all agree on.

I'm going to let ppl put their myspace links in the WEBSITE field of their profiles if they choose. That is the ONLY place. A link to your personal website already appears in EVERY post you make. So there is NO NEED to put it in your sigs or even mention myspace elsewhere on this site.

As of next week anyone violating this rule will be automatically banned. We don't have the time to warn every violater and then check back to see that they've complied.

Yesterday I removed SIXTY TWO threads about myspace. That is SPAM! And anyone advertising that site here is a SPAMMER. Got it?

Hey, they're back. (takes longer to scroll, now.) Just a suggestion, NOT a rule, IF you are going to post a number of times, on the same thread, it is a good idea to remove your sig for subsequent posts on the same page and thread. People have already SEEN your pic and your words, which, by the time you post 4 or more times, are burnt into their memories.

It just makes it easier, for all, to unclick the "show your sig" for subsequent posts. Again NOT part of the Guidlines, just a suggestion, and it loads faster this way, for people who don't have Cable Modems. :)
