Closet Door Phobia....

Is it me or am I the only one in this world who had once the fear of sleeping with their closet door open...I had this period in my life when I just couldn't sleep if I didn't check my closet door to make sure that it was closed and locked...oh and to make things worst I had this phobia that I couldn't pass by my closet after I sut off the lights...so if I wanted to get a glass of water or soemthing in the middle of the night I couldn't cause to get out of my room I had to pass the damn closet door....but eventually I have overcomed it....::sighs::....yes now i can sleep in peace without checking if the goddamn closet door is locked or not and I don't have to ask it permission to pass by it either....

Yeah, I have the same problem. It is'nt nearly as bad for me. I can still open my closet and stuff in the dark, but I can't fall asleep with it open.

first of all, my closet doesnt have a door, so i couldnt close it if i wanted to. but myself, i wouldnt be able to sleep with it closed i think. if its open you could see anything that was in it. besides, mines literally pcked to the brim. i dont think i could fit anything more in it. theres even some long stuff with one end jammed behind the clothes bar and the other sticking out until it touches the ceiling. i have a feeling anything hiding in there couldnt get out if it wanted to.

I am not really AFRAID, but its more of an OCD thing, where it annoys the hell out of me. I'm just like that.

Yeah, I have the same problem. It is'nt nearly as bad for me. I can still open my closet and stuff in the dark, but I can't fall asleep with it open.
Yeah that happens to me somtimes...when I come home and I've been on something...kinda makes me paranoid....

When I had my bedroom upstairs I would always lean my mirror up against my closet door...that way I would know if somebody was hiding in it...lol

I was a bit strange when I was younger I guess...I always thought people were hiding behind things.

i had a thing where my bedroom door had to be open a certain amount (about four inches) ..... no more or less or it would piss me off and i would have to go and fix it.

Some of you sound like...perfectionists (serra) but some of you sound like a lil scared of the dark- side (PurpleHaze/backtothelab). Hah well I'm more of the scared of the dark...my closet slides, so less noticable...but walking through my dark room does seem spooky sometime.
Especially after a scary movie. >.<

I had the same problem growing up. Went so far as to put a sliding lock thing on the outside of the door. Fast forward a few years and I had a closet with NO door on it and it didn't bother me a bit. Try taking the door off and see what happens.

LoL I always have to leave my closet door open. I feel like when it's closed that there is someone hiding in there. lol

I simply cannot sleep with a cupboard door open, I get really freaked out and start to have a bit of a panic attack if I notice that it is open even a crack.

I also used to not be able to sleep in a room that has exposed mirrors, but then I moved into a house where the sliding cupboard door was a massive mirror and I had to choose whether to sleep with the mirror exposed or open the cupboard - closing the cupboard door eventually won!

It's good to know I am not alone with this though!

I hate having the closet door open. I will not be able to sleep until it is shut...I'll lie there & obsess about what could be in there, and then scold myself for being childish - its a vicious cycle that can keep me up all night until I get the balls to shut it! At my mom's house, it was the worst...because when we moved in, I had alot of space in my closet besides a few stacked boxes. One night, I was about to drift off when all of the sudden a great big THUD came from the closet, accompanied by what -sounded- like hissing or something. I about shit my pants. Ever since then.. I just haven't like that closet very much.
