Damn Cinnamon, those had to take forever to do! They're beautiful! Wish I could work with small beads like that, I've tried, it didn't work mine tappered instead of going around straight, then I gave up after that and just when with wrapping, that worked out better for me.

Thanks, I seem to have a natural talent for beading, the hubby taught me & a couple of hours later I was better than him ;) Flat peyote stitch took a while to get, for the longest time they'd twist. The crystals that have the designs that go over the the starting beadwork line were tricky. I love beading...to me it's like meditation.

I had to register just so I could tell you what beautiful work you do , Cinnamon. I love that stitch. It is a personal favorite I use for amulet bags.

Thank you so much Patty, hopefully you're finding some of the other HipForums interesting too :) The peyote is so nice for amulet bags, you don't have to worry about even small items falling out.
Yes, hipie22, I did all the beadwork on this page.
Thanks everyone for the compliments...I guess I should pull out my beads and make something new to post on here.

Those are amazing. I would love to get one for my dreads. Do you sell those down on the drag?
hippiestead
12-14-2006, 04:30 AM
No, we don't have much beadwork on the table anymore but you can special order one & pick it up on the Drag; & it'd have to be in February cuz JuJu is there selling until the 23rd & then he's taking a month off so that we can work on our new busses. we'll still do mail orders while we're working on the busses tho
GypsiJoJo
12-15-2006, 02:54 AM
Right on then, we can do that. By special order, do you mean like custom? Like, if I wanted a dragonfly on it. They look so awesome, and Ive been kinda waiting for the right time to get one.
How are the busses coming along?
PEACE and much love~ GypsiJo

Haven't done a dragonfly before but I'm sure I can figure it out...matter of fact an idea is coming to mind as I type... What diameter & how long?
So far, the busses have their seats pulled & nothing else. I drew up some basic blue prints the other day. Now we have to scrape the gum from the walls & scrub them down inside before putting in wood ceilings, walls & floors in one bus & insulation board on the ceiling & walls in the second bus. Our kiddo's bus is going to get some new decor too...he needs new bookshelves & a wood ceiling. Hoping to get all the word done by summer...then we can work on outside paint jobs!
GypsiJoJo
12-18-2006, 02:58 AM
Oh, that is so awesome. An inch in diameter would be perfect, and as for how long...erm about 3 1/2 inches. COuld you put bells on the bottom? Heck yea, your work is awesome.
Im glad the busses are coming along. If ever you need any extra energy, I would love to be of service.
Peace and love, JO

maybe we could work a trade for the dready piece...let me talk to JuJu & see what he thinks. he's down at the drag until about the 23rd (if he holds up that long! he's been down there 8 days already as of today)
GypsiJoJo

Right on, Im down for trades... just let me know what on ur wishlist.

Beautiful work there! I really like the macrame work you done. I might hit you up for decorations around my emergency door and bedroom windows in my own skoolie bus. I still working on my girl-hope to have her done before summer as well. *crosses fingers*

K.I.S.S. method. Nothing crazy fancy thought I did replace the floor, laid down some bamboo in the bedroom & painted her. Right now, FV (Fantastic Voyage) is in the shop making me poor w/ her electrical problem but once she's back in the yard, I can start putting the bathroom/kitchen together. Hope to have her campable by summer. She will have a wood burning fireplace for heat & a sweet sound system but that shouldn't be a huge deal. I picked up a lot of ideas from the set ups I've seen on a friend's ride. Hope to also have some window stills for plants and what not. Space near the front and around the fireplace is more like a lounge w/ lots of pillows & maybe a couch :)

Busses are so much fun, you can do so much with them! I finally started a web album to show our progress on out latest bus projects. We're not very far along on this one but here's where we are on the Inner Sanctum bus: http://picasaweb.google.com/hippiestead/TheCreationoftheInnerSanctum

Seriously! Can you believe I'm already half planning my next ride? This time I want something much bigger or at least taller :D
I was going to paint the ceiling but I felt that lots of tapestries & posters would be a much prettier decoration. The outside isn't so hippy but the inside will be quite the chillin' center. A couple of pictures of FV are in my gallery here.

Cool pics We always seem to have condensation problems that ruin good tapestries (which is why we started doing our ceilings with wood) We found this cool furniture for the Inner Sanctum on-line...it has built-in storage. Oh, for your plant shelves, you might try putting that 'no-skid' shelf liner stuff on them & maybe weight your plants with a little gravel in the bottoms of the pots...the rubbery 'no skid' stuff is great for keeping things from sliding while driving (tho gravel roads will bounce plants off even with the liner) Heavier stuff seems to stay in place better on the 'no skid'

& yes, we do sell this stuff when I have the time to make it. I'm trying very hard work beading into my schedule, since it's a very zen activity for me & will posting a pic of a new piece sometime next week. Most of the chrystals pictured are for sale, each has at least 10 hours of work involved, most have more. The Janis piece took approximately 60 hours.

If you want to, try keeping a pen and paper next to your bed. Tell yourself before sleeping you will remember and if you wake up remembering anything, write it down immediately.

08-25-2007, 04:23 AM
Thanks, but if I remember anything when I wake up, then I'll remember later.
Besides, I remember so many things from so far back that my brain appreciates the freedom of not having to remember dreams

hippiested: awesome beading how long did that take you
hippiestead
08-30-2007, 03:07 AM
I'm not exactly sure how long the butterfly took, the Janis piece, which is also a flat peyote stitch & is a similar size took about 60 hours (I only remember because I made that one at a campground just north of Janis's hometown & we were on our way to a Janis birthday bash in Port Arthur)

simply wonderful, I've been playing around with peyote stitch for a while, I just can't seem to figure it out very well however... furthest I've gotten is wrapping a rock. I really enjoy your beadwork of Janis is it just a basic beaded portrait or an amulet bag?
hippiestead
11-10-2007, 03:50 AM
It's a portrait...its mate that is in the Gulf Coast Museum in Port Arthur is framed by blue velvet & has 'Janis' embroidered in beads at the bottom; someday I want to do something similar to the Janis that I have & to the butterfly, but right now, I'm backlogged on bead pieces that I need to do.
