My youngest brother (20) is driving across the country from SE Ontario to Vancouver, BC. He is going with a friend, but I still worry....

I feel a bit motherly toward him, as I am so much older...I know he has to do this to find himself, so I've not said anything...

I made him a necklace with a jade donut for good luck. :D I hope he likes it.

I don't really have a point, just airing my feelings..

Tell him to trip over to Victoria, it's absolutely gorgeous!

Tough to watch, huh? At least he's got you backing him up. Know that you make that difference for him.
I left home at seventeen. Permanently. I wish I had backup out there like you, then.
If he's got half a good head on his shoulders he should do just fine out there.
He'll be having some of the most vivid experiences in his life.

(((((hugs)))))

You sound like how I am with my little sister. I'm 9 years older than her, and assumed a motherly role with her from the very day she came into this world. I think one of the hardest things is realizing, yes, she's an adult, and that she is quite capable! http://www.hipforums.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

 you're worried he'll turn out like me, aren't you?

:D Don't worry Daisy. Like Fritz said at least your bro has back-up and probably a decent amount of common sense. He'll most likely have the time of his life and maybe learn sumthin'.

Leaving your security systems and heading off into the unknown for a bit is kind of a right of passage.

The cross country road trip is the modern, middle class version of the aboriginal vision quest.definitely! :) that made me smile

i have brothers who go off on crazy adventures too. one of my brothers is on carney tour right now. i wish that he was driving around doing the vagabond hippy thing instead. there's wayy too much easy access to hard drugs on carney tour. :(

ps, that macreme is fabulous! absolutely beeeautiful. :)

I don't really have a point, just airing my feelings..hugs to you for caring about your brother. I'm sure he will be just fine. :D. I am ten years older than my brother, so I know where you are coming from; I feel motherly towards him. And that's sweet of you to make him a necklace.
