it was a one eyed one horned flying purple people eater
one eyed one horned flying purple people eater
oh what i sight to see.
and
she wore an itsy bitsy teeny tiney yellow polkadot bakini
and in the water she wanted to stay
puff the magic dragon lived by the sea
and frollicted in the morning myst
in a land called hona lee
hey those were some of the good ones from all the way back to 1958
or there abouts or at least back to 62.
they were among my favorites when i was in high school
really novelty songs like that were just about the only thing before the british invasion and the beatles came along
although the kingston trio and the smother's brothers were good too.
i even remember "hello mudda, hello fadda, i am here at, camp grenada,
camp is very, entertaining, and we'll even have some fun if it stops raining"
puff the magic dragon was early peter paul and mary. i don't know if anyone else did it first. as far as i know it was completely their own. it may even have been their first or one of their first big hits. i don't remember for sure if it was before or after if i had a hammer. i think it was after though. possibly after blowin in the wind but before great mandella.
who did purple people eater was someone else though. i don't remember their name. possibly a one or two hit wonder. same for yellow polka dot bakini.
you'd have to ask a beebop rythem and blues expert on that one.
i just remember hearing them all the time, along with the sickly sweet pubescently sexy norman oo oo oo oo oo oo oo oo norman, ..., which however erotic to my adolescent mind i none the less grew VERY VERY tired of.

"Ohh Eee Ohh Ahh Ahh
Ting Tang Walla Walla Bing Bang
Ohh Eee Ohh Ahh Ahh
Ting Tang Walla Walla Bing Bang"
is from the Witchdoctor.
"I called the witch doctor he told me what to do . He told me.. REFRAIN"
This is different from the lime in the coconut witchdoctor song.
My favorite is the Marvelous Toy,
"It went zip when it moved and
Bop when it stopped and
Whirr when it stood still.
I never knew just what it was.
And I guess I never will."
(Who did put the bop in the bop shu bop?)

click on 100s more stations tab at the bottom once you get the first url up, it then puts you on a small selector you can change to any station listed in the USA
So far I like the one listed in Wichita the best. You can then dump the 2 browsing windows and minimize the small selector window to change stations.

KTHR-FM Rock Variety Wichita, Kansas
it doesn't use real player or windows media.......
thanks for the purple eater lyrics......since I posted this, I had so many questions about who was playing a song I liked on hdradio online, I typed a few lyrics of each and put them into the search engine at Google, so far I haven't been disappointed.
peace

The Marvelous Toy sung by Pete, Paul and Mary
Written by John Denver
When I was just a wee little lad, full of health and joy
My father homeward came one night and gave to me a toy.
A wonder to behold it was with many colors bright
And the moment I laid eyes on it, it became my heart’s delight.
It went zip when it moved and bop when it stopped whirrrrr when it stood
Still
I never knew just what it was and I guess I never will.
The first time that I picked it up I had a big surprise.
For right on it’s bottom were two big buttons that looked like big green eyes.
I first pushed one and then the other, then I twisted it’s lid.
And when I set it down again, this is what it did.
It went zip when it moved and bop when it stopped whirrrrr when it stood still
I never knew just what it was and I guess I never will.
It first marched left and then marched right, then marched under a chair
And when I looked where it had gone it wasn’t even there.
I started to cry but my daddy laughed ’cause he knew that I would find.
When I turned around my marvelous toy would be chugging from behind.
It went zip when it moved and bop when it stopped and whirrrrr when it stood
Still
I never knew just what it was and I guess I never will.
The years have gone by too quickly it seems, I have my own little boy.
And yesterday I gave to him my marvelous little toy
His eyes nearly popped right out of his head and he gave a squeal of glee...
Neither one of us knows just what it is but he loves it just like me.
It still goes zip when it moves and bop when it stops, whirrrrr when it
Stands still
I never knew just what it was and I guess I never will.
Witch Doctor written and sung by Ross Bagdassariian AKA Jerry Saville of Alvin and the Chipmunks
I told the witchdoctor, I was in love with you
I told the witchdoctor, I was in love with you
And than the witchdoctor, he told me what to do
He said that
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabingbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabangbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabingbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabangbang
I told the witchdoctor, you didn't love me true
I told the witchdoctor, you didn't love me nice
And than the witchdoctor, he gave me this advice
He said that
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabingbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabangbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabingbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabangbang
You been keeping love from me just like you were a miser
And I'll admit I wasn't very smart
So I went out to find myself a guy that's so much wiser
And he taught me the way to win your heart
My friend the witchdoctor, he taught me what to say
My friend the witchdoctor, he taught me what to do
I know that you'll be mine when I say this to you
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabingbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabangbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabingbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabangbang
You been keeping love from me just like you were a miser
And I'll admit I wasn't very smart
So I went out to find myself a guy that's so much wiser
And he taught me the way to win your heart
My friend the witchdoctor, he taught me what to say
My friend the witchdoctor, he taught me what to do
I know that you'll be mine when I say this to you
Oh, baby
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabingbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabangbang (come on and)
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabingbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabangbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabingbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabangbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabingbang
ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang wallawallabangbang
"Itsy, Bitsy, Teenie, Weenie, Yellow Polka-Dot Bikini"
BRIAN HYLAND written by Paul Vance and Lee Pockriss Bitsy, Teenie, WeeniPolka-Dot
She was afraid to come out of the locker
She was as nervous as she could be
She was afraid to come out of the locker
She was afraid that somebody would see
One, two, three, four, tell the people what she wore
It was an itsy, bitsy, teenie, weenie, yellow polka-dot bikini
That she wore for the first time today
An itsy, bitsy, teentie, weenie, yellow polka-dot bikini
So in the locker she wanted to stay
Two, three, four, stick around we'll tell you more
She was afraid to come out in the open
And so a blanket around she wore
She was afraid to come out in the open
And so she sat bundled up on the shore
Two, three, four, tell the people what she wore
It was an itsy, bitsy, teenie, weenie, yellow polka-dot bikini
That she wore for the first time today
An itsy, bitsy, teentie, weenie, yellow polka-dot bikini
So in the blanket she wanted to stay
Two, three, four, stick around we'll tell you more
Now she is afraid to come out of the water
And I wonder what she's gonna do
Now she is afraid to come out of the water
And the poor little girl's turning blue
Two, three, four, tell the people what she wore
It was an itsy, bitsy, teenie, weenie, yellow polka-dot bikini
That she wore for the first time today
An itsy, bitsy, teentie, weenie, yellow polka-dot bikini
So in the water she wanted to stay
(From the locker to the blanket)
(From the blanket to the shore)
(From the shore to the water)
Yes, there isn't any more

Paul Stookie, the writer of the song, says it is NOT a marijuana song.
