Badly Drawn Boy...

Fly's cd of the week... Friday 16th July 2004...

Yeah... as part of my weekly pre-pub routine, I always pick up a cd from my friendly independant music retailer... try not to lose it as I get pissed... then I tend to immerse myself in it until the next week...

This week... it is the newie from the hatted one...

Jolly groovy...

Much closer in tone to his debut, The Hour Of The Bewilderbeast, than his last two offerings... perhaps this is down to recording in Stockport again rather than jetting off to Los Angeles... much more acoustic again... lots of plucky guitar strumming.... piano... some lovely strings... bit of flute here and there... pastoral might be a good word... some lovely songs... his voice sounds good... yep, it seems to be good news for the Badly Drawn one...

Will let you know how I feel at the end of the week...

I saw him at Glastonbury this year and that man is fantastically grand! He played a few tracks off the new album and they sounded bloody good so Im looking forward to hear the new one :)

At Glastongury he kept dedicating the set to Joe Strummer which was lovely :D He even brought Bezz on stage with him :)

The cd is dedicated to Joe Strummer and Elliot Smith... and two other friends/relations of the Badly illustrated one...

Its also one of these carbon neutral cds... in combination with the Future Forests organisation... brought that up a year or two ago... think it was Pulp who I first came across doing that... but I could be wrong...

Oh at Glastonbury they were going on about Carbon Neutral lots.. I thopught it was a great idea. I first came across it when drinkupyourcider brought me the Coldplay Live in Sidney DVD and thats Carbon Neutral. I would like to read more about it.. it is agrand idea!
