I know exactly who she is, now why are you gracing the sacred spiral with this bland blonde haired singer?

Syou scared me for a minute sam, thought you were in agreement:D

I just remember the sappy I want to thank you song, and some hilarious story about how she was the daughter of a famous poet and a film director or something, and how hard her life was

Dido is the name of a goddess.

I have offered to send this to the music forum, but hauker wouldn't hear of it, presumably because something has to be classed as music to go there

Dido's the "There will be no white flag upon my door" chick.

She needs a good bludgeoning.

I'd take Dido the singer over Dido the goddess any day. You're all blasphemers and shall burn in a hell populated only by Dido cover artists, playing 24/7....

Why is everyone hating on dido? I only hear her songs on elevators, but I don't find her too grating on the ears. What is the difference between her and Alanis or Brittney or Gwen or Avril (and on and on ad nausium)? Besides them not getting my respect as one musician to another what is the difference? All their songs are written by the same professional song writing company after all. (seriously, they are.)

It's affording them way too much credit to say their songs are all written by a pro songwriting company. That suggests some organic, human input. Their songs are written by machines. Machines writing unengaging music to travel in machines (elevators etc.) to.

In this context my washing machine is Sibelius and my Hoover Stravinsky!

actualy i've heard music that really was composed by machines and i thought it was pretty good. but then i also like the music of astronomical objects and phenomina frequency shifted down into the audible range and other odd things, like the sounds some kinds of machinery make, like electric motors, and compositions made by merging mechanical and natural sounds. all of which, admitedly, are perhapse a wee bit more creative then any sort of singing that gets airplay on corporate media.

(i think js bach dreamed and fantacized analog oscilators and digital sequencers too)

ok the thing that really turns me of Dido is how bland, samey, nice and conventional most of her songs are, shes not bad or good, shes just middle of the road
