i guess this is a good enough place to put this ~

what is it in this world that we are looking for?
all sorts of questions plague us, the most important i find is 'why?'
everyone wants to know 'why?'
i believe this is one reason there are many religions
the need to know 'why'
and the uncertainty of not knowing
after all we are 'just human'
does it really matter?
will finding out that question make your life any better?
will the 'why' of our lives feed people that go hungry?
will the 'why' of our lives help the junkies on the street?

there are, i find, 2 ways to looking at this life (well there are more than 2 but this suits my purpose)
one is to ignore all the bad things that happen around you and embrace all the good
but i kinda find that to be a superficial way of looking at life
sure embrace the goods of this world, but never suppress the bad
the second i find is to wallow in the sorrow, or some people take it as being 'realistic'
reality is all relative
relative being that it depends on many factors
you may agree or disagree, that's up to you
think for your self and make your own decisions
don't waste the power that you have

what are your thoughts?

who is this us of which you speak? (yes i too am guilty of making sweaping generalizations, some of which turn out to have been unfounded or a bit premature)

life is the condition we are in between birth and death. there is no requirement for it to have any other signifigance, though many people are enculturated to feel that it must.

this doesn't mean it has to be futile or ungratifying either.
but it does mean that we often expect a bit more then is realistic of reality's diversity that surrounds us.

we ARE each of us uniquely individual. even our innermost being, soul, spirit, has intrinsic inclinations that are unique to each of us individualy. just as do those of every member of every species of creature, whatever the generalized charicteristics of that species.

i don't see anyone as being deffined by anything other then what those inclinations drive them to find of interest to them persoanly.

nor do i see the world we are surrounded by, the real, thangable part of it, as deffined by anything other then landforms, and the geometry, color and texture of objects.

human society also exists of course, more as an annoyance with its coerciveness and deceptions then as anything else.

before you can gratify you must of course survive. beyond surviving, creating and exploring are what do.

and if we wish to decrease the probability of our own suffering, we can only do so by avoidance of contributing to suffering in general and the causes of it, and that means everyone's and not just our own. because that part of it is statistical and probablistic.

suffering and the causes of suffering are an unneccessary and annoying empediment to the enjoyment of creating and exploring

we are also part of a web of tangable life, and very likely have nontangable friends as well.

so life is what we are surrounded by while we are living.
it isn't something we have to beat our heads against, and it isn't something we have to expect more then is reasonable from.
it is something to be thankful, for whatever good fortune comes our way.

if people are only encultered to feel that way, why is the idea so universal?

if people are only encultered to feel that way, why is the idea so universal?

it isn't. it's only been forced down people's throats by cultures which through accidents of history which could as easily have gone other ways, have come to be dominent.

Hasn't there always been wonder and mystery? Only in the past 10,000 years have we gained a sense of doom, however.

It's all right to be ONLY human. It's all right to be ONLY here and now,
Maybe once we realize that we will be at peace.

To no longer have the need to fullfill is to discover the beauty of simply being.

i was brought up to ask my own questions and find my own answers. i've never had any ideas forced on me. the lack of ideal control in my life has only increased my awareness of the universal mystery.
