my new course

I'm soon going to be training to be a counsellour (the helping kind, not the polictical kind!) i'll be doing my introduction year, which is one day a week and the odd saturday for a year.
then if i wish i go on to do a diplomia or degree!

how it works is there are 3 levels of pretraining courses and then a person, if they pass those and if they want too can start their two years training to become a qualified counsellour.

I've been allowed to start straight on level two as I am a qualified mental health nurse.

I talked a lot in the first session, so I'm sure people will be wondering how I will be able to stay queit long enough to listen to anyone!
we have to keep an on going journel after every session, its made me realise that although I know counselling theory, its a very different ball game to nursing, the skills are used very differently, so I have as much to learn as everyone else.
theres also a big difference to being a supportive friend than being a counsellour.
however I am looking forward to my new course, its four hours at a time, its very intensive!

the first lecture went well, its going to be very intensive, it four hours from 5pm till 9pm every monday till the middle of december, this will include tradional class room learning, group work and practicle experince counselling our peers.
there will also be two saturdays and a small exam at the end, which if we pass, we can go on to the next stage

I've taken the exam, I think it went OK, we'll see if I've passed in about 2 months, they let you onto the last stage anyway, that starts in 4 weeks- go figure!
