I am young hippie I guess, only 14 and am at a very important part of my life. I feel i have identified myself but am not sure where to go next living in Michigan. I am just not sure at this point in my young life what direction to go next. I have a stable life but need to decide what to do with my life. I was wondering what you did when you had found yourself at a young age and the next big step you did in your life in that directionI am just looking for advice from anybody who has experienced this before and was unsure what to do next. Thanks.

Um... write down that question, fold it up and put it somewhere safe, and don't read it again until you're 21. Then it will be easier. :)

when I was 14 i knew I was going to be the next Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan, and I was going to be in the major league baseball hall of fame too. so just wait until your older to find yourself, and just have fun and enjoy life right now.

Darling, please don't worry yourself with questions like this at such a young age!! The best advice I can give is be mindful of who you are and what you would like to do when you are around my age (24 on Saturday, and believe me, time flies once you graduate). What do you like to do? Is there a way to make a career out of it? I like to write, so I'm going to school for journalism... I'm still in school, but I haven't given up my dream yet!

At your age, you're still absorbing information about the world around you with your own eyes and formulating your opinions based on what you see. Surround yourself with those you emulate, some real friends and positive influences. You're doing a fine job of becoming an adult on your own, because of the maturity of your request. But remember, being young (underage) takes up on average only 1/3 of your life... enjoy it. It goes all too fast. Good luck to you. Luv, Jules :p

2 years ago I married the man I feel in love with back when I was 13.

You sometimes do know...lol

Longstocking has some great advice there....try out a few things you like to do now and develop your skills at them so one day you can use them to help you live.
It's no fun being hung up in a job you hate...

Find others around your age who are into the same way of life, there is a U.S.A forum on this site, post there to see if there are others on here who live around you.

Good for you that this concerns you...alot of young people sit on their butts then 18 hits them in the face and they have to make a bunch of decisions under pressure, but don't worry too much about it, develop your mind, seek out your answers, have fun along the way and be mellow....

Haha, welcome to life. Sucks, does'nt it?http://www.hipforums.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

I'm in the same boat with you, I'm a senior, I want to go to college but I don't know what I wanna do. Well, my brother says that alot of kids go into college having no idea what they wanna do. I have no idea what relevance this has to your thread, if any at all, so good luck being a kid!

I know everyone is advising you to sit back relax through your age-range, and that is probably the opposite of what you wanted to hear.
I wish there was a set of life rules in the cracker-jack box too, but noppers.
My best advise is to try and not define yourself---- this may clash with other ideas, but if you try to define yourself, you set self standards etc. and that is restrictive. You'll know yourself by how you deal with the lack of cracker-jack prizes not the one-liner titles we create.
Plus, save all the 'finding yourself' etc. stages for when you understand the world a bit more.
Again, just suggestions, but I've found that I'm happier just lettin' it be!:)

Yes, this may sound like the dorkiest thing in the world, but talk to a guidance councellor regarding your interest. There are majors at college in things like political science and social services. Actually, in social services, there is a wide variety of options to choose from that only require an associate's degree. Also, check online to see what the universities and community colleges in your area have to offer. Especially in areas like Baltimore (yes yes, hell, I know), there are programs for people interested in social services and the city is willing to help train you for a position. Let me know if you guys need anything at all for your research (I have a knack for finding info!) I'm glad to be of service to any young person aspiring to achieve their dreams... :D

ha! me in college? thats kinda impossible, seeing as how my grades pretty much suck and I've had a drug offense as a minor. I kind of have a plan for the next couple years of my life, but you prolly wont care to hear it. Its kinda crazy, but hey if you ask Ill tell ya.

hey man, we've all been there before. I know it sucks not knowing where you are going or where you'll end up, but that's one of those things you just kinda have to wait out. I mean, if you wanna start gettin more involved or something than just help out with stuff that interests you like activism and stuff. Just keep exploring new stuff and the rest will follow eventually. Good luck to ya!

And soulrebel and water_dreamer I'm with you guys on the age thing. I'll be 17 and a junior too. I started school a year later.. I guess b/c of my birthday..

What is your plan after school, soulrebel? If ya don't mind me askin.
I did want to go to college but now I'm not so sure about that seeing as though it doesn't look like I will be able to go to the only one I really love.. but oh well.. There are other things to life.

my plan....well its kinda crazy. After this school year, next summer I'll only be 17 but I am going to go on a "roadtrip". lol. except, I am going to go to Canada, and after I turn 18 my parents can't legally get me back unless I am willing. So after some hiding out in Canada till august 31st, I am going to try and get dual citizenship, so just incase anything crazy happens I can run to canada to get away from the feds and whatnot. Then hopefully I can finish school in canada, and then after my senior year go to san fransisco with a friend and room with him...if he decides to not go to college. And then, i donno i guess Ill go with the flow and either "activise"(donno what word im sposed to use there:)) or drop out of society completely and live with some hip gurl somewhere where noone could find us for a couple years, and run a website like raisethefist.....then when im 20 or so when Ive got lots of followers start rallies speaking out against the corruption of the amerikan govt and how they oppress anyone who doesn't agree with them. I also want to be a big part in the legalization of marijuana. kinda farfetched, but hey, all that would happen in a perfect world.

That sounds like a fucking awesome plan! Quite inspiring actually :p.. I had been thinking about leaving next summer too since I'll be turning 18 and the whole college thing isn't really going how I had hoped. Hmm... I am really starting to think so.
Lol when I was reading your post it made me think of the song "Imagine."
Well hey I hope everything turns out great for you! Sounds like it will be one awesome journey.. And hey, maybe one of these days you will be one of the icons of the next Revolution changing the world. I can see you as the next Abbie..

Ok, lol.. getting a little carried away. Hey, what can I say? I'm a dreamer. But it could happen!
