Herpes & Cold Sores?

Herpes Simplex Virus 1 is responsible for cold sores. Does the virus remain with the person for life? and can it be transmitted when cold sores are not present?

Do Cold Sores imply only one possibility, herpes?

Ok, I've done some satisfactory research...80-90% of people have the oral herpes virus but only 30% show symptoms throughout their lifetime. Can u believe that?
