I was hoping this would be a REAL thread. Because I actually have very strong feelinsg about youth. I mean YOUNG, like five years old. I guess the words I'd use to describe it would be beautiful, and simple. Anyone know what I mean? When it was so easy to have fun? You could have more fun then with something worth a buck than you could now with something worth 5000 bucks. It's truly marvellous. I wish I could be that way forever, but alas, I am not.

well i remember all the way back to before my first human breath and beyond that though maybe not EVERY detail in between. it's something people tend to do too damd much of when they get to be ancient fossles.
best times in my life would have to be the earliest years i was on my own. not that there weren't also good some good things and times about my childhood too.
but from about 71 until oh about 86 or so were probably the best years in my life. although raygun comming along was pretty depressing too. mt st helens blew up because he got elected if you want to make those kind of cosmic connections.
late 70s i was in southern oregon and 82 till i came back down here i was in PorSFiS in portland (the one in oregon, never been to the one in maine)

I wish I was young again I'm sorry for a lot of things I've done in my life and I wish I could have it back to do over again.

sorry but I missed the idea behind this thread:) wasn't sure if it was a follow the lyrics type thing....or if it was a flash back to a time of?......remembering when we were young is the very foundation of life...for where we are now is based on where we came from......
My earliest recollections of being young takes me back to a very simple time in the late 50's....my folks and I lived above the telephone office....and the two phone operators .....more or less adopted me ...I spent hours sitting at the old style switch boards...playing with cords and connecting phone calls...phone service in those days was a luxury and very limited....any body in my age range should know all about the party line aspect of telephone service....I can still draw up very vivid images of all the lights and plugs and jacks of the old switch board...and it boogles my mind to think of the advancements which have taken place in my short span of a life time.
I am still unsure about what the intent of this thread ....but there is my little piece of remember when you were young....and my thought on youthism....is;
"youth is life itself..and putting it into perspective...cannot be perceived until it is gone"

i remember being about 3, waiting in the hospital to see my new baby brother. he was sick and didn't come home for a while after he was born. i got to sleep in his crib until he did come home. he's now 6'4" and i'm 5'1".. i got jipped

I really miss that sense of wonder, & awe. Everything was new, larger than life, the possibilities seemed endless.
I still manage to occasionally recapture that feeling from nature, & animals.

Jipped? Hey, that's funny. :)
But, you're still 3 years older than him, right?

In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand
At the mongrel dogs who teach
Fearing not that I'd become my enemy
In the instant that I preach
My pathway led by confusion boats
Mutiny from stern to bow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

I remember visiting my great aunt and uncle in Grants Pass, Oregon.
Their house was gigantic. I had to reach up to turn the door knobs, there were rooms at every turn.
They had a barn, that smelled like hay and a work shop with boxes of tools and cans full of nuts and bolts and nails. They had a big garden, I'd go and dig up a couple of carrots to feed to Victor, their old gelding.
Victor was cool, I called him my best friend. When I fed him the carrots, he'd bend down to get them ( I wasn't very tall back in those days). While he ate I'd scratch his ears, when he was done he would rub his nose up and down on my chest. Loved that horse.
They had a big front yard, where us kids would run through the sprinklers.
I returned as a grown up, aunt Lu and uncle Wil had passed, Victor had had been gone for years and the house wasn't very big now.
Ah, the magic of childhood....
