Lucifer was connected with Venus, which is the Morning Star/Evening Star. It was seen to be either leading (bearing) the sun out at dawn or following after it, either trying to act like it was first, or jealously chasing the sun and it's role as the brightest star. That's one perspective on it, anyways. Another would be Venus heralding the rising of the sun, or following the sun down at night.

Anyways, God doesn't want to be worshipped. The powerful elites who created such religions did.

No true god would care about being worshipped. Worship is very much a small egotistically inspired human concept (maybe a holdover of dominant male monkey behavior).
