Tracks in the Snow

A man's track in the snow
ever fades like the stars in the dawn
buried in today's still-raging blizzard
or melting in tomorrow's sun;
but never do they last.

Either filled over or dissolved,
all trace of his life is destroyed;
an ash here or a bone shard there
may remain for others to see;
but not forever.

Bodies rot, memories fade,
as we all flicker out like lamps in the night.
Our stories forgotten, unwritten, unread
the world carries on, wantonly living
and remembers never her dead.

Powerful work.... well done.

While life is fragile and fleeting, gratitude fills the cup of the moment.

Sad but true man, in the grand scheme of things everyone is forgotten. Even the legends of yesterday will be forgotten in time. Really nice work, keep on writing, I know I don't have to tell you to. You've got the spark of passion like the rest of us.

Ah, so true, this memorial to our Sorrow. Yet, I will remark, more in compliment than contradiction: That man may make tracks in the snow is evidence of the undying flow of that Force which animates him.
