100 Year Old Marijuana Tree

I have been groing bonsai for a while and I have always wanted to grow a Marijuana plant as one. I read some where years ago that a marijuana plant can grow into a tree 100 years old, although the THC level at this age was very small. I have come to believe this is just a myth but I can not find anywere how long a plant can live.
I was told the other day that it will live as long as it is not polinated.
If I am able to grow the plant for a number of years this is going to give me untoll fun.http://www.hipforums.com/forums/images/smilies/humm.gif

Hey Soltan :) ! Yea go ahead and bonsai your Herb. All the traditional methods work the same on Herb as they do on any other plant, just keep your plant in veg. As long as you keep your plant on a vegetave light cycle and everything elce is proper you can leave your plant to your grandkids in yer will and they could prolly hand it down to theyrs. As long as you can stave off gene deterioration you shouldnt have any issues with potency. Keep your bonsai in veg and never let it see a flowering light cycle and youl eliminate the greatest threat to your plants genetics that faces them, -going threw a flower cycle and being reveged. Theres more than a fyew Folks that use the bonsai tekneek on theyr mother plants for space purposes.

Supposedly, according to local legend....
On a certain indian reservation in So Cali there was a plant that had been there for around 40 years. The same plant was budded outdoor every year, and trimmed back like a rose bush in winter....It would re-veg in spring and do it all over again.
I personally have not kept a plant going for more than three years....But i dont have my own land yet either ;)
but yeah - what lumpy says- your grandchidren could inherit a well kept mother.

Marijuana is an annual; that means it complete's it's entire life cycle in less than 1 year.
Under artificial light the plant can be kept in veg for years by maintaing a veg cycle, but not under natural light.

then why is my outdoor crop revegging after the buds have been removed?
Cannabis is normally an annual true...
But it can be manipulated to grow year after year quite easily if you know what your doing.

I got a bro in southern cal who has a plant thats reveged and flowered on its own for over ten seasons and he does little to care for it besides water.Not the greatest buds tho.

I personally have gotten plants to make it through two seasons from san diego to central california. A lot depends on the elevation and location you grow in. Valleys and hilltops get too much exposure, but hillsides from 500 to 900 foot elevation will support cannabis in mid winter.
The main key is having other bushes around it to shelter it from wind and frost.
It is snowing here right now, i have a bunch of two footers and a couple four footers getting hit by 6 inches of snow right now as we speak.
I went out and shook snow off of the two big ones awhile ago. I think pictures will be forthcoming at some time today. The snow just doesn't get this low normally... Im at about 900 foot.

Thanks heaps everyone. I will have to get into some research on the growing cycle. I havn't had a plant of my own in years. I can't believe how much I have learnt about horticulture in the last couple of years doing bonsai and I havn't yet used this info to try mull plants again.
This is going to be alot of fun.

I've grown thousands of marijuana plants over 5 decades and done extensive reading; I've never personally had a plant in the "wilds" overwinter.
The only time I've seen it happen is in the city, where there are street lights, porch lights, etc. (artificial light) that interrupts the dark cycle.

I throw seeds out in the fall, like oct-nov. I always have a few come up in nov-dec. From sacramento to san diego I have done this for 3 decades.
By spring i have them sexed and get springbuds- in summer they revert (re-veg)and bud again in fall.
I live far from any city and city lights- my grows are sheltered by natural brush.
These were put outside about two weeks ago and are in their stretch- the snow seemed to thrash them a little, but they loved it. ;)

Well.. I live in a pretty harsh climate (only northern lights (maybe) or lowryder would finish here) we've had fourth of july parades snowed out.. Anyways, my oldest plant is just now over a year old, I started her inside, grew her outside for the summer, then brought her back in, made clones and then flowered her, she's gonna yield almost a half pound! Anywho, if ya just took really good care of it, it would work just like a normal bonsai, just watch the light times.
