Poor_old_dad: Go Chico, or Paradise. Both are gorgeously pretty. But that's my own biased opinion. Go check them out yourself.

I lived in Hermosa Beach, California for 2 years. Hermosa means beautiful in Spanish and it truly is beautiful and crazy. I lived in Venice Beach hostel for a bit and it's the freakiest place on the planet. I lived on the beaches south of San Fran for a few weeks, my favorite was Big Sur or Half Moon Bay, then went north and I spent my birthday in Humboldt when I turned 22, I HIGHLY recommend it. I lived Berkeley, east of the bay in San Fran., homeless, it's pretty kind.
These day's I'm out in Montana. But I left my heart in San Francisco.

ya i was gonna go down to la on friday but the ride didn't work out... :(Thats messed up.Dont you hate how everthing is spread out(jobs, grocery stores, entertainment, etc.) & cars are the quick solution but they cost so much money owning and fixing its crazy. You know I wish everybody either walked or would ride bikes. Its pretty dangerous riding a bike in the city though with all the cars so to make a living we drive em and we depend on em.My cars transmission is all messed up sista and it wont go in reverse.Try to picture this, 3 guys in a 89 mitsubishi all with one foot out pushing backwards.Funny as hell right?LOL.We were str8 out looking like the Flinstones.:) Hope you make your trip and enjoy it sista, planning on checking out any cool and relatively peaceful spots?

i don't really have anywhere in specific i want to go.Im used to traveling by foot though this is how I got around for 19 years but I got some famiy members to look out 4 so I got the car to help the family.I've been thinking about letting my car sit and only driving it when its really necessary(as if it ever is) and riding a good bike to handle all of my business but I dont like riding near cars so I guess if some are around I'll hop on the sidewalk, hope I dont get a ticket.

Yeah it was real hilarious, my little flinstone car.Its so funny I almost like it(probably cuz Im high right now?) and you know it might be the new exercise craze might even make people stop driving so much if all cars were like that.... come on guys if we wanna go anywhere you gotta get out and push.:)

You should go to the santa monica piere with some friends you know the arcades there are pretty cool and the Bubba Gumps shrimp restuarant is great!I went there loaded as hell I mean eyes all red and the waiters were asking everybody questions about the forest gump movie and I couldnt stop laughing & smiling I guess it was the bubba kush but anyway they didnt ask us indivisually they would come in the middle of the floor and ask the question like we were all a big audiance so if you didnt wanna participate that was cool no sneaking up to ya in front of everybody and putting you on blast so dont worry. They didnt act like I shouldnt have been there and I gotta couple drinks up there with no hassles.Yeah its real fun hitting some bubba kush & eating at bubba gumps shrimp.Kennath Hahn Park has a nice view for picnics too.Have you ever been to Universal Citywalk? Its not a whole lot of exciting things to do around LA but you sure can make something outta of whats here.

nevada city and the san juan ridge are the coolest places in the state (or the country or the world for that matter) that i know of to not be like anybody else. more so even then what i've seen of the cities. (even sadly, today's san francisco) but then i suppose a city person might see that differently. i've also heard about bolinas being hippie friendly, maybe even of and by, but having seen it called that on the 6'oclock news i wouldn't totaly count on it staying that way. but if you want hip culture, grass valley, nevada city, san juan ridge, is more the place then the coastal cities.

auburn and alturas i'd tuck my hair up under my hat sure, but even auburn i don't think you'd have all that much problems unless you were really flagrant and in everyone's faces.

(i lived in auburn for a number of years and had some VERY 'hippie' friends who lived there, as well as many 'streighter' who didn't have any problem with the 'hipper')

As I use to hang at Farmer's Market in LA, it was my exclusive place to
panhandle and get food too back in the 60's. And late at night it was a fun place to play also LOL. That is the difference between nowadays and back then...we were up and on the streets all night, but as far as nowadays that would be very rare and dangerous.

It's alright. I had a lot of fun. I was mainly looking for some rags for a halloween costume; went to goodwill & such. I got a kickass vest too & ate at cha cha cha's, esp. because it wasn't my tab! Went & checked out Berkely too because I might apply there next yr.

The weather was actually pretty damn hot for san fran. lovely tho.

I might be going up again because I'm a huge Janis fan & hopefulyl I can scrounge some money together for Love, Janis!:)

The farmers she & I were talking about is in SLO; definitely a lot smaller than LA or SB!! I've been to the SB one a few times. There's a few smaller ones locally too.

We enjoyed a nice lil vacation in Santa Barbara, hung out at the pier and beaches. visited the Presido.
The Mission was a nice and a spritual place to visit.
For Northeasters, the Spanish Archichture is always inspiring.

We climbed to the top of City Hall. The Chappel had beautiful murals.
We were there in September, fires were burning in the hills behind the city, everything was smoky.

My real estate is very expensive there in Santa Barbara.
Lots of hip people. Nice shopping walking the boulevards.

We drove through Box Canyon in LA. it looked very hippy-ish or commune-ish
my cousin said that Box Canyon is where Charles Manson had his settlement.
Anybody got any Box Canyon stories?

I've been to bubba gumps in SF & monterey but i'm vegan now so i'd probably just have fries. :p they ask the easiest questions compared to how many times i've seen the movie. i've been to the city walk once.City walks alright. They have this one shop where they sell these really cool neon glow in the dark pictures of mushrooms and butterflies. Cool to look at when your really blowed. Bubbas is fun but the best thing at the beach is the beach its self. All I need is some waves & budd and I'll be cool.:)

Channel Islands are just a stone's throw away. The most accessible and famous,is Santa Catalina.I like Avalon. There's a tiny man-made Balboa Island between the Balboa Peninsula and Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach.

I'm from San Jose but live in San Luis Obispo. Anyone go there?Have been to Cambria and wouldn't mind owning property up there. But then again I wouldn't mind having a roll of 50s that would choke a horse, either.

I was born and raised in San Jose. Lived their for 14 years back in the 60's-70's. Also lived a couple of years in Fair Oaks, suburb of Sacramento. I now reside in Las Vegas. San Francisco is the most beautiful city in the world. Also, since I am now closer to Southern Cal, I like going to Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead. But one of the most beautiful spots I have seen is Morro Bay.

Cherry Valley here. Kinda in the low mountains near Beaumont/Banning about 15mile or so from Riverside but only 6-8 from Redlands. I like it here-the air is cleaner (even if all those stupid track houses are coming up further down the road) and most my neighbors are overrun in greenery & animals.
hiya to all the riverside/sanberdo locals!
